Details/background:
Bought in 2014 from previous long-term owner with the intention of building subtly modified and useable bike (alongside another which was building to sell). As bought, the bike was already in very good condition and ran perfectly with fresh fuel and battery.I considered it low mileage, with only 19k on the clock.
The bike was totally stripped down for rebuild (except the engine, which was determined to be very good) and virtually everything stripped back to bare metal. All components were re-finished, either in powder-coat or re-sprayed with Simoniz products.I swapped-out the rear wheel for the wider CX500C, as it looks better. Frame-mods were minimal just widening the rear seat rails touch to fit in the one-off battery tray.
Seat/tail unit is my own design and based on the shape of the original rear light. It's made in fibreglass and strong enough to sit on.Moulded/fixed to the original seat pan and lifts off as one unit for access to the battery, air filter etc. Tank, tail unit and side panels finished in dark grey metallic with black stripes and nice, deep laquer top coats.
Steering bearings, wheel bearings, swing-arm bearings all replaced as part of the build. Original exhaust headers with one-off stainless link pipes and chrome megas (sounds great).
The bike runs very well, as the carbs were stripped/rebuilt and it runs the standard air box so no fuelling issues what-so-ever.The bike is fitted with Ignitec ignition module, which is recognised upgrade for improved and reliable ignition. Optimate connection fitted for easy battery maintainence.
I have covered around 4000 miles in the last five years (mostly in 2014/5) and the bike is fun to ride with very useable riding position. Always arouses interest and appreciation at the bike cafes and won best in show at local meet year or two ago. Because of this use it does have the odd scratch and wear that it obviusly didn't when freshly built, but overall still in excellent condition. As stated, it's designed to ride.
I have loads of photos of the build process which I'd be happy to email to interested potential buyers. Most of the photos here were taken last year, but the machine is still in the condition shown as has covered only 57 miles since they were taken. The last photo was taken this year (03/05/19). Was last ridden on that date and was started up yesterday there are no known issues with the machine. Obviously, due to its age, the motorcycle is sold as seen.
Reason for offering for sale is simple have another build underway and am reducing collection. You are welcome to come and look at the bike, hear it started up etc just contact to arrange.
