1973 Ford XB Falcon 500 Sedan 250 4.1L Speed Man May Suit XW, XY, XA, XC, XDUp for auction is near complete 1973 Ford XB Falcon 500 Sedan. It is in original unrestored condition.
This car was last registered in 1988 when purchased it. It was rusty back then but runnning and driving when it was delivered to me by previous owner.
The car was parked underneath removal house which got in 1993 to protect it from the elements.
Approximately 15 years ago needed more room to park another car and reversed the XB further under the house.
The engine did turn over at the time and also noticed some rust had developed in bonnet which is normal and common in old Fords.
In 2010 both house and XB Falcon were moved by truck 15km up the road.This XB Falcon was parked under the house for years to protect it from the elements. As such it has developed very little additional rust in that time. The front and rear bumpers look good and are in good condition. All doors open and close. Clutch works, gears change, handbrake works.It has been off the road for longer than it was on the road, stored undercover most of its life so has less mechanical wear and tear than car that's been on the road constantly and is in more original condition than car that has had numerous rebuilds or restorations over the decades. Interior roof lining and sunvisors are good, door cards are good for age, drivers side shows some wear as it's always the most used. Rear doors are missing chrome trim around door opener leavers. Seats need reupholstering, vinyl floor has cracks and tears, dash pad has cracks, steering wheel has cracks, seat belts are frayed and broken.This XB Falcon is good base for restoration project. That could be, just repair the rust enough, primer over repairs and fix or replace engine, etc to get it road worthy as daily driver. more involved ground up restoration or go all out and make GS or GT replica.It is cylinder 250 engine, speed column shift manual and seats with front bench seat.Has rust on the lower part of each door which is repairable or find another door that is rust free. Rust on lower front guards and lower rear quarter under sides of boot. Rust in front and rear of sills, bubbling in rear wheel arch, in wheel well all repairable. Rust above rear left indicator. Some rust along rear inside boot above, behind and around tail lights. Some rust in and rust bubbling in roof gutters in front and rear ends of gutter not roof. In between front and rear ends of roof gutters it is rust free. Small areas of rust in door jam are repairable. Lots of small rust holes on top of bonnet most no longer than 5c coin, some more rust on underside of bonnet which is repairable or find another bonnet that is rust free. Floor is solid.Engine it tight and will not turn over due to lack of use. You might be able to take the head off and free it up or it might need rebuild. You could fit good cylinder engine from
another XB or an engine from an earlier or later falcon such as XY or XA or later model such as XC, XD, XE, XF. Of course you might decide to put Ford 302 or 351 V8 in it which would be alright to.Missing alternator and regulator, drivers scuff plate, rear view mirror, headlight, front park/indicator lens and some wheel nuts.
Has slight hardly noticeable see ya mate dent on roof, small hardly noticeable dent where boot lid is slammed shut, dent beside boot lid on left side in middle, small dents and scratches in doors, front guard and rear quarter along passenger side which may pop out.
