An rare Jaguar XJS seat (2+2) Lynx convertible. One of just 72 worldwide.
Back in the day, and well before Jaguar built their own convertible, very small number of XJS models were converted by the well known Lynx Company in the UK to make the Lynx Spyder.
It took years to develop the convertible and the Lynx Spyder was very, very expensive car, adding full 50% extra to the cost of new Jaguar XJS.
As result, very few Spyder's were built and after 40+ years, even fewer survive today. This is number 11.
Today, Lynx Motors are better known for their $350,000+ Jaguar XKSS, Type replica's.
Unlike most old Jaguar's, my Lynx Spyder is in lovely condition. have had her fully re-painted (a full 'glass out, guards off' restoration) which included stripping the old underside bodysealer and then re-coating with modern stone guard protection so no rust issues. Photos of this are available and are in the history file.
She has the powerful and smooth Jaguar V12 engine, GM 400 automatic gearbox, new 16" alloy wheels with new tyres, new battery, and new, full exhaust system.
The electrically operated and fully lined mohair hood is in excellent condition with no marks and works perfectly.
She has been recently serviced with fresh oil filters etc. and the fuel injection loom has been renewed.
A new power steering rack has been installed by leading classic Jaguar specialist in Melbourne. They also replaced the gearbox seals and the throttle linkages have been re-bushed in brass (not perishable rubber), the injection system was cleaned, new brake hoses fitted and the brake system flushed with new fluid.
She starts on the button, drives really nicely and has no known issues at all. The air conditioning is currently disconnected but being convertible, it hasn't worried me.
My XJS is regularly driven (on Club Permit in Victoria) so unfortunately the registration is not transferable.
The Lynx also comes with set of the Jaguar 'Star Spoke' alloy wheels tyres.
Questions and inspections are invited and thanks for looking.
