Hello.
I am reluctantly selling (no reserve) my 1983 XV1000 (TR1) Cafe Racer project due to lack of time, and other personal reasons.
This model is chain drive as opposed to shaft drive, which is super rare and sought after.
I purchased this bike from friend who lost interest and it was my intention converting it to unique Cafe Racer. This is my 4th build and take my projects seriously with no cut corners.
Bike was running perfectly and started first time every time.
Compression tested prior to build: 117.5 (F) 116 (R)  - 122 being recommended factory ratio.
If you look at the pictures it is obvious that have put lot of time, effort and money into this build so far, and am saddened to give up on it, something that have not done before; but as stated just do not have the time right now and personal reasons have dictated this sale.
Bike is unregistered.
Just some details of the custom work to date:
- Complete new subframe- Bike frame stripped to bare metal, sand blasted and then powder coated satin black- Fuel tank stripped and sprayed 2K satin black, followed by gloss black pin striping and added retro yamaha decal. Originally wanted tone tank (Audi grey black) didn't like, stripped it again and liked the satin stealth look.- Engine stripped and resprayed in alloy, with the fins and covers treated with Harley Davidson texture paint. Real stand out.- Every engine bolt replaced with stainless steel hex bolts.- Tappet covers polished- USA based 485 Designs custom stainless exhaust, imported $695USD ($975AU)- Vapor blasted carbs with new jet kit to accomodate new exhaust and pod filter modification- R1 front fork conversion utilising All Balls Bearings. Callipers included.- 50mm XIMA100 clip ons
At this point in time this project is at about 70% completion. It was my intention completely wire this project with Motogadget tech i.e M-unit, Motoscope Sign, Motoscope Mini, M-Button etc. have used these on my prior builds and if you do your research its top shelf gear for the serious builder.
I worked on this bike in my best friends workshop (Northern Beaches Motorcycles DVMC check them out for all custom work) when had some spare time, and when needed special tools and equipment (Lathe) but now it sits at home needing to be completed.
With the sale you will also get boxes of original parts, too much to list, but for example original loom in perfect condition. Other parts like pannier mounts etc sell online in excess of $100. All thrown in with the sale.
I am happy with answer any questions you have, please feel free to contact me.
I will not however, accept or respond to stupid offers. This is no reserve auction and the final auction price is what it will go for. So that being said, only serious bidders only.
Pick up only sorry, will not transport. If you are interstate and want this bike, please contact and make arrangements with your local courier company, will help as much as can from my end.
Preferred payment: cash on collection, direct funds transfer. If you pay via Paypal buyer will pay Paypal fee.
Thank you for looking.
