YAMAHA 1996 YZF1000R "Thunderace" Sports Bike for sale.This is an older sports bike that has been kept quite standard over the years and is still very handsome.  It was Yamaha's top sports bike at the time, being released after the FZR1000, with the similar 145HP 5-valve engine, and was replaced by the R1.  The only modification is the Vance Hines bolt-on muffler which has nice note but is still ok for rego.  It has 94,827KM on the Odometer and it is very clean.The GOOD:Clear PPSR (Revs) Certificate;It is in quite good cosmetic condition for its age;All straight and everything works fine;Starts easily and runs well;Good Pirelli Diablo tyres (front 80% and rear at least 50%);Chain and brake pads are fine - about 50% usage left;Newly re-covered rider's seatToolkit included!Service Workshop Manual, Owner's Manual, Parts List and some tests by Magazines, are included on CD.The NOT-SO-GOOD:Blows some smoke on startup and after idling while.  can't say if this would be problem for rego because all States have different tolerance levels.Some cam chain noise;The radiator has repair weld high up that appears to have been made to fix stone damage but still leaks slightly;Various minor cosmetic cracks in the fairing, together with some left-side scratches.  The left side panel has large repaired crack and repaired leading edge.Tank is not matching it should be all red but still looks fine;Left mirror is little loose on the pivot;Only one key (but it is the genuine one).I have Ventura rack for this bike that will be available cheaply to the successful bidder, if wanted.There is NO RESERVE, so you bid to buy.  The starting price is about what I have outlaid, with no profit for my time  The parts are worth more than the starting price if you should choose to dismantle it.Here's the background:I'm retired and enjoy working on bikes and tidying them up for the next owner;I bought this from the owner of the National Motorcycle Museum, who had purchased it as part of package;The bike was previously registered in Queensland (shown on 2015 rego sticker in holder) but there are no plates nor rego papers.  will provide receipt to the successful buyer.PICK-UP ONLY, from Macgregor, ACT.
