1947 GMC Truck
NO RESERVE!
First year of the advance design truck.  Imagine making it through WWII with rationing stamps for certain products, including foods, and virtually no new vehicles from 1941-1947.  That is exactly what the original owners told me about when bought this truck from them.  They had nursed their old Ford farm truck through the last couple of years and rushed to order the truck you see here as soon as they were able to do so.  They specifically ordered it with the chrome grille, but the factories were not able to keep up, so they actually took delivery of the truck without grille, and installed it themselves when it came in about weeks later!  Some pretty cool history!
They had quit farming their ground several years ago, and parked this in the barn where found it.  It had not seen the light of day for quite some time.   I hauled it home and got it rinsed off and cleaned out.  just did the basic stuff to get it started, clean gas, new battery, set of points.  It will need some carburetor work, but it fires up and sounds pretty good, with nice burble at idle.  Carries good oil pressure no bad leaks, etc.  filled up the master cylinder with brake fluid and pumped them up the brakes try to work, but will need to be bled.  This truck is very solid, with beautiful chrome grille.  There are no major rust or body issues very clean and straight, there are couple of thin spots in the floor, but overall very solid.
Just quick rundown have sold several similar old trucks to this.  love them and they are fun to work on.  make sure they run and try to give good idea of condition, but most old vehicles that have sat for years need the same types of things.  You should consider this running project.  Things to expect carburetor kit, fuel tank cleaning, master cylinder or wheel cylinders, hoses, belts, fluids, this one is hot wired because the key switch doesn't energize the coil so it will need new ignition switch.  All of this is fairly easy for the novice mechanic, and parts are cheap.  just want you to be aware that you will probably need to spend couple weekends tinkering with it to have daily driver.  This truck would make an excellent father/son project, and would also be ideal for small working farm or landscaping, etc.  If you are going to haul yourself, used an 18ft car trailer and 3/4 ton pickup.  It hauled very nice.  This is NO RESERVE auction, so it will sell.  am fine with truck sitting here while you arrange transportation, as long as it's paid for.  Please call Cort 620-786-5172 with any questions.  Thanks and good luck!
