For Sale:  Working man's 1957 Cadillac Series 62 Sedan. No A/C, no power windows, no power seats, but proudly owned by neighbourhood mechanic since the '70's. Unfortunately, the vehicle has not been started or moved since his death at least 4 years ago. An Insurance Appraisal completed in 1998 is included with this car, showing the odometer at 98500 miles, today clocking 101485 miles. This car has traveled less than 2000 miles in the past 19 years. Body color is charcoal grey semi-metallic, interior is multi-tone grey and baby blue. Original 365 ci engine and hydromatic transmission both rebuilt at some point in the past. All original underhood but for air cleaner, electric fuel pump and plastic windshield washer bottle and pump. All hoses, belts and plug wires should be changed, as should fluids. Engine runs smooth and quite, but only when pouring fuel down carburetor. Carb is gummed up solid and will require rebuild, gas gauge says the tank is full of bad gas. Generator electrics work as designed. Newer dual exhaust, low mile bias-ply tires, full wheel covers are in great condition. One repaint that can tell. All tinted glass is good, no cracks or bull's eyes. All chrome, badging, and emblems are present, ranging from fair to good condition. Front bumpers and grill are in good shape, rear bumper has been bumped in and twisted and will require work. Rear bumper ends are fair, but not rotted thru, which is rare for this model. Rear light bezels and trim are heavily pitted. Body side panels are nice and straight. Upper LH rear quarter panel shows a serious body repair failure down the entire length of the panel and will require repair. There are a few other small spots of rust on the body and some rust-thru on the floor pans as seen in the attached photos.
Doors open easily and close with that familiar GM thump. Locks function smoothly. Windows do roll up and down easily. All door, trunk and window rubbers are almost non-existent and require urgent replacement. Due to the poor state of the door and window seals, the front floor pans have suffered rust thru. The carpets were completely deteriorated and were holding lots of moisture, were removed and disgarded. The door and kick panels are fair, but dirty. The headliner is in very nice condition, as is the rear package tray. The steering wheel is complete but does have few cracks and hazing. The horn ring is fine. The gauges are all clear and easy to read, chrome bezels and lenses are very nice. The radio, floor speaker and power antenna are untested, as is the unusual dash clock. The dashboard and sun visors have been recovered by an amateur, and will certainly require repair or replacement. The seats are complete, but show fabric wear, sunfading and stains. Usable as-is, or excellent candidates for recovering. NO SIGN OF MOUSE FOUND!!!
The trunk seal failure has caused rust thru in the spare wheel well, all the cardboard side panels and carpeting holding moisture has been removed and disgarded. Trunk does contain spare tire/wheel in unknown condition, original jack stand, foot and tire iron. Underbody looks clean and oil tight, inner and outer rocker panels are solid, all body mounts are very good. Frame is straight and solid, no rot found. Brakes work well, and the car does go into gear, but was unable to road test it due to the carburetor issues.
Included in this sale are two sets of keys, ownership and repair documentation, NOS geneterator, NOS voltage regulator, new distributor cap, rotor, points and condenser. New front drum grease seals, carburetor kit, 1957 Chilton Repair Manual, new oil filter canisters, and other misc parts/pieces and spares. I quickly laid in a new but older carpet from '56 coupe, just to cover the floor.
I have spent a good deal of time pointing out the negative issues with the car, but believe me, if didn't already own '56 Coupe, 1962 Sedan deVille and two stall garage, would keep it and be glad did. I was offered this car just week ago because I'm "Cadillac Guy", so I'm selling it quickly before fall in love with it. This car will certainly appeal to large range of car enthusiasts, and could be enjoyed with only small investment in time and money, or taken all the way back to showroom condition. In either case, this vehicle remains stunning in design.
I have made every effort to show all sides of this vehicle thru pictures and words so there will be no surprises. have worked hard to maintain 100% positive feedback rating and plan to keep it. Please keep in mind that the paint, bodywork and fore mentioned mechanical improvements were all completed just prior to the appraisal of 1998. I 2 encourage 0 you 4 to 8 look 9  very 5 closely 7 at 2 the 3  pictures 7, to ask questions.  I will gladly assist with loading and paperwork.
Deposit required  in US Funds immediately at auctions end. Full payment in USD required before release to new owner. Good luck, eh!
