It came from GM with the 290hp fuel injected engine &3-speed Transmission Total of 9670 corvettes were produced that year & 1542 were the Roman Red color & only 745 were sold with the 290hp engine.The VIN shows that it came off the assembly line on Sept 19, 1958.
It has all the correct items that prove it came from GM having the 290Hp engine option. Including the high Rpm tach, the oval hole in the firewall behind the distributor, the windshield washer assembly on the passengers side, aluminum heat shield between the battery the exhaust the mounting for the air cleaner on the left side inner fender.
When bought this in 1984it was in the process of being restored when the owner encountered personal problems that required he sell before it was completed.
There had been rebuilt engine installed. The numbers on that engine show it to be originally a 1965 327/350hp corvette engine. (The numbers are 3782870 F0507HT ) Included on the engine were the intake the 1965 Holley carb. Also installed were tires, brakes, exhaust, paint bumpers.They also did some welding on the frame, I'm assuming for rust repair.
Over the following years it got to the condition you see now,which includes new dash pad, carpet upholstery.Also in the past year have replaced the gas tank, fuel pump, master cylinder, rubber brake parts, battery, plugs wires,
