Back in 1961, when full-sized American Pontiacs like Venturas,Catalinas and Bonnevilles ruled the road with their Wide-Track styling,Canadian full-sized Pontiacs were built in Oshawa Ontario on the ChevroletAssembly line with Pontiac styling and Chevrolet mechanical components. The top of the CanadianPontiac lineup was "model 7867" Parisienne Convertible. TheParisienne was not quite not fancy as the American Bonneville; it was closer tothe Catalina, but little smaller. When used everyday on Canadian roads, the bodies of these cars typically fell apartwithin five years. This is one of 2223 built for the Canadian market, andone of handful that has survived. This time machine was neverused as transportation. It has 81,000 sunny miles, and was kept coveredin heated garage for its entire life.Engine isChevy's 283 2-barrel with correct Pontiac rocker covers. Transmission is 2-speed cast-iron Powerglide, also correct for 1961Parisienne. Fender skirts are GM Canada factory option; there are no aftermarketadd-ons or modifications on this original beauty.
