The S-2000 is very close to the top of my list for that, as it is pure, traditional take on the rear wheel drive platform with sweet, high revving 2.0L inline that pumps out 240HP. This was an unheard of output per Litre at the time the engine was released, and it took Ferrari to oust it from the top HP/L years later. The AP-1 S-2000 has near perfect 50/50 weight distribution, featherweight 2800lb curb weight, and handling appropos to car of the caliber, sticking to the road like it is on rails. These statistics would be impressive for many supercar, and the speed frenzy of the past 6+ years has only barely started to scoop up the S-2000, but with super low production, and combination of power, handling, and analog controls, the S-2000 may well be one of the last pure, affordable collectible roadsters of our era that still feels up to date. This particular example has only 57k miles (likely to increase slightly, can't hold myself back from occasionally bringing this one home), and is finished in Silverstone over Red Leather (one of only 205 ever built in this color combination, and only available in 2003). The black top is in excellent condition, the vinyl boot cover snaps into place perfectly and has no tears or nicks. The tires have plenty of life left and the brakes are excellent. This is clean, accident free example with Clean Carfax and well documented mileage history as wel as having all vin stickers present on the trunk, rear bumper, door jams, front fenders, and hood It appears to be completely stock, with no modifications and even the original radio is in place. The engine bay is as clean as the rest of the car, with the original cadmium plating still being bright and shiny. In ten years, think most of us will look back at S-2000 prices and think "I can't believe passed one up for under $25,000!" because these cars do everything you want collectible to do, with low overall production, enthusiast performance and handling, amazing engine sound, and gorgeous style that has held up for over 20 years and still looks fresh. It took me long time to find one in this condition, with miles this low for reasonable price. Don't miss it, haven't found one to replace it with yet!
