When Porsche was told that it could no longer bring the Type 930 Turbo into theUnited States after 1979 because it couldn??™t meet tough new emissions regulations,production nearly ceased. After six-year hiatus and the development of newelectronic engine management system to control exhaust emissions, Porschebrought the 911 Turbo back to the U.S. market.

In that same period, number of wealthy clients asked the factory to createstreet-legal versions of the brilliant 935 Group car under its Special WishesProgram (Sonderwunschprogramm). They featured flat, aerodynamic nose withretractable headlights, widened and louvered front fenders, more muscular rearquarters with air intakes and stylish ???strakes,??? extended and boxed rockerpanels, an additional oil cooler, and large rear spoiler, which housed anintercooler atop the engine lid. After 930s returned to the U.S. market in1986, Porsche formalized the design the following year, with option number 505,also known as the 930S, for the U.S. market. This option code could be orderedfor an additional $23,244.

This rare factory-built Flachbau 930S Cabriolet was completed in May of 1988.It still wears its original and near-perfect Silver Metallic paint, trimmed inspecial supple Burgundy interior leather The paint and interior are alloriginal and in PERFECT condition !
