The 1300 engine was powerful, frugal on gas, and could wail at high RPM all day if asked. This is an excellent collectible that can double as daily driver, strong and well constructed" True then true today! 
This original beetle had the 1300 cc engine fully rebuilt in the summer of 2014. Then driven from Riverside California to Niagara Falls area. Fun to drive! 
Some rubber at windows and seals have been replaced as well the maintained items are Brakes, Distributor, Carburetor and pin control switch volt with addition of Sapphire AM radio. This car spent it's first 50 years in the LA to Palm Springs commute for the original owner. She worked in the Studios of Hollywood and lived in the Desert. Bought in Oregon brand new while on movie set. 
The engine was rebuilt by Floyd's VDoubleU Repair Shop. He as well changed the Window Glass Rubber and added new horn ring, new master brake cylinder, re built volt starter, heavy duty clutch plate. Somewhere around 25 years ago touch up original color paint job was done and the windshield wiper Motor was rebuilt.. Otherwise full original with matching numbers for car and engine. Always stored under Car port with Car cover so these items replaced were from sand blowing in or normal service wear and tear on now 50 year old car.This car is Full original except for the Addition of the Radio and some rubber seals along with the engine rebuild to put in new Heavy duty case savers, rings, making it an enjoyable car to drive on the highways.
