Up for auction is Numbers Matching 1937 Indian Standard Scout.   If you are interested in this bike and are reading this, you already know that these bikes were only made from 1932 to 1937.  Let me describe the bike as accurately as can, and the reason that am selling it.   purchased the bike few years ago from great gentleman who lives in Montana,......for my Dad to restore.   We purchased original parts wherever/whenever we could to make the bike as complete and original as possible.    wrote the checks and my Dad did the work.   It kept him off of the recliner.    My Dad was about 90% done when he passed away this Spring.    He was big into Indians his entire life, and this was the last one he worked on.   His name was Harry Dawson....maybe some of you knew him.   If you went to the Blackhawk Chapter Swap meet this year in Davenport Iowa, there was big writeup on him in the brochure.   Since his passing am just not interested in completing the bike by myself.   don't have the knowledge anyway, it was all with him.   will do the best can to explain what know about the bike.

BCG656 Engine Number,    237656 Frame Number.
It is probably easier to state what is not original rather than to state what is.   As far as know, the headlight is new and is an exact replica of '37 Indian  headlight....it was purchased from Greer's, believe the horn is original but the face is repop.   The brake light lens is repop believe.   The rubber on the footboards is new and the wiring is new.    The ignition switch is new and the ammeter is original. The exhaust system is new as well.    Air cleaner chrome looks perfect, so assume that is repop also.   I'm sure there are some other items that are new, but pretty much all of it is original 1937 Indian.

When purchased the bike, it had '40 Sport Scout cylinders on it instead of the correct '37 SS cylinders.   To make the bike correct, acquired what thought were original '37 SS cylinders from guy out East off of Ebay and had them restored.   believe most everything is new on them.   The cylinder walls were sleeved and honed to Standard bore and Standard pistons were used.  New valves, valve guides and valve seats.    New pistons. The upper end of the engine was rebuilt by local shop along with my father.   The lower end according to my Dad, "looked perfect-hardly used"...so he left the bottom end alone.    sent the bike to Jerry Greer's to have the exhaust system put on, which they did very professionally.   was told however by Todd at Greer's that the cylinders that purchased were '38 Sport Scout instead of '37....so the exhaust was still installed, but do know that the cylinders are '38.

I have never tried to start the bike.   really wouldn't know how to try and do it, so will leave that up to the new owner.   can't guarantee anything on the motor as just don't know specifics.   know my Dad said that he had about weeks worth of work left to do on the bike before he could start it.   have finished the wiring of the plugs to distributor so that was some of what needed to be finished.  don't know if you were to put oil/gas in it, mess around with timing and ignition and you might get it to fire up, or if the oil leaks out somewhere....I just don't know.   It looks pretty tight to me, and all buttoned up ready to fire....I just cannot guarantee anything because just do not know.

Look at this as project as something that is very far along in the restoration process that still needs few items along with some paint, or leave it as is....get it started....and ride it as is.   The headlight turns on when the key is in the correct position, and the brakelight goes on, as does the instrument panel light, but the horn just buzzes when you push the button.    There is no battery for it, just hooked it up to 6V battery charger to run the power.   believe the wiring may be finished, but again, I'm not sure.

I have the title, but it is currently with the State of Illinois getting put in my name officially....as never changed it from the previous owner to me.   Might take few weeks before get it back from the State.  If anyone has any questions, shoot me an email and will get back to you as soon as can.    will sell the bike to international bidders as well, but you will have to acquire your own shipping arrangements.    This bike is at my house and is readily accessible to hauling company semi if you don't want to pick it up in person.   Bike can be viewed anytime if you want to come look at it.    Let me know if you want more pics of something.     will accept cash, transfer of money into my account, personal check, etc. but no paypal.   We can work out the payment later, as I'm flexible.   Thanks for looking.   Brent
