1958Harley Davidson FLH Duo Glide "First Year" HarleyDavidson transitioned over to the swing arm frame for the Models in 1952 tofollow suit with the British motorcycles that were starting to be mass importedinto the US. It took Harley another seven years to adapt the swing arm designonto their "Big Twin" models and they named them their "DuoGlide" model. The name "Duo Glide" was derived from the new"full suspension" utilizing the Hydra Glide front end, which startedin 1949, and the rear swing arm and shocks.  This set the bike apart fromthe antiquated hard tail rigid frame design that dated all the way back to1903. This very nice example has been fully restored along with completeengine and gear box rebuild. All of the bright work was meticulously plated andthe fenders and gas tanks were treated to new coat of Clypso Red and BirchWhite paint scheme. This motor is the 74ci FLH version and is very strongrunner. The primary chain has been swapped out for smooth running belt drivealong with set of Barnett clutch plates to insure smooth ride. The fourspeed gear box is set up with foot shift and Mouse Trap hand clutch. For showor go, this beautiful 1st year Duo Glide will fit that bill nicely! This motorcycle is very strong runner and would make an excellent rider for any purpose!
