This YZ was Mike Owen's Ahrma #1 National title bike. knew Mike well helped him set it up for run at the championship. Bike is unrestored but very nice. It has about 30-min break-in time total since engine rebuild. New parts included piston kit with bore, rod kit, all beaings, seals, gaskets, clutch plates, intake manifold, seat foam cover, petcock, throttle cable, slide, air filter, 1974 aftermarket front fender and fresh tires. Bike is "VERY" FAST. Here's why- When Yamaha's OW27 works water cooled 125's were in jeopardy of being 'claimed' at the AMA Nationals in 1976,Ed Scheidler; Danny Turners' mechanic had to switch Hannah's Turner's engines to production YZ125X engines. To insure they were fast enough, they were carefully modified and became much faster than stock, and in stock form- they were fast anyway. Ed's specs went into this bike. Cylinder piston were boost ported, head milled and trenched, jetting changed and YZ100C pipe used. Ed told me the 100C pipe actually worked better than all the hand made pipes tried. Bike has an unknown aluminum swing arm- possibly works Yamaha. Negatives- rear fender is painted, no pink slip- bill of sale only. Frame engine numbers are 1G8, but not matching, kicker return spring is weak. Gas tank and side panels are very nice- maybe 95% perfect. One small depression in tank plus few other minor flaws. Footpegs nicely widened. Bike is race ready but will need jetting for your elevation. No warranty applies- this is used dirt bike over 40 years old.
