This motorcycle was completely restored, powder coat, base, 2k clear, hardware electro-coated along with professional assembly gets you one sweet time machine. The engine was overhauled with new trans-bearings, crank shaft was re-manufactured by Vintage Smoke NJ, Pro-X Rods/Roller Bearings and new genuine Yamaha crank bearings. The top-end was machined by Olsen Engines NY to the second over 64.50mm. New Pro-X pistons w/ teflon coated skirts to prevent seizing.
Paint was matched to the original Geneva Green and has been cleared times and buffed to luster finished. All of the graphics are new high quality repop 3M and have not been cleared. Wheels are power-coated black, new wheel bearings front rear along with new rear sprocket ORING chain. All of the zinc hardware on this bike has been restored and the chrome is in very presentable state with some sign of minor pitting on the front fender, minor very minor. Gauge Cluster has the original 7300+ miles, both gauge faces were restored with new decals. Handle bars are "super bike" and are very comfortable. The original bars are available if needed. Fuel tank was very clean and did not require much intervention other than new petcock.
This bike has less than miles on it from the overhaul, jetted wet 160 main with the DG Pipes and Uni-Filter Replacement.
Brakes have been re-manufactured with new seals and pistons and both calipers were finished in ZINC. Both brake rotors were re-centered on the lathe with grinding machine to insure they are not warped. This bike has the original seat, mirrors and front brake master cylinder. The rear brake master cylinder was updated to new HVC Cycle (Magura Brake Kit for RD400 $230.00). Forks have been completely dis-assembled, inspected and re-assembled using new fork seals Belray 10W fork oil. Forks have upgraded billet aluminum adjustable tensioners to increase the spring rate.
The electrical system has been updated to the PowerDynamo GmbH Czech Republic. This system eliminates the Yamaha ignition dynamo points system. The new CDI system does not need battery to operate in race environment. The battery is required for street use because the lights, horn, and signal relay draw significant amount of amps.
Tires are new Avon and have been balanced.
Carbs were completely dis-assembled and treated to ultra-sonic bath. Fuel is 160 mains jets 25 Pilot- #3 Clip, 350ft' sea level may require new jetting based on air temp and elevation. Bike it jetted wet to be safe.
This is year restomod nothing overlooked, everything works! build, test and sell all of them.
