This is highly customized 1978 Yamaha RD400. She has about 14,850 original miles on her.
I have had her for about 12 years.
There is so much have done to her that probably cannot remember it all.

I done frame-off restoration. had the frame and many of the small pieces powder-coated dark gray. The wheels are powder-coated black. The handlebars, calipers, battery box, and seat pan are some of the smaller things powder-coated along with the frame.
.At that time replaced about all could replace as far as bearings and bushings and such. They really did not need it, but done it anyway. The wheel bearings, steering head bearings, went to bronze swing-arm bushing, etc. etc. will include with the bike many of these original parts with her if you wish.

I recently done top-end on her. went with Banshee high-tech coated pistons.......20 over if recall. She has maybe 750 miles on her since the top-end........at the most.
I have highly modified some other things on the engine. removed the original air-box and went to Y-boot foam air filter. have really worked the carbs over. All re-jetted, different needles, and done the 'Dave F' carb modification to her. She is dialed in real well.

I have Banshee intake manifolds with carbon fiber reeds. made crossover pipe out of copper myself.  have intake spacers on her. She has DG expansion chambers on her.
She runs out very very well as you can imagine. Great mid-range power and high-end power out the wahzoo. She starts easily, hot or cold.
I removed the oil injection system and run pre-mix. have the original oil pump to go with her if ya wish to re-install oil injection. You would need the cables though.
I have chopped the front and rear fenders.

She has LED headlight. It is great daytime running light, but is only so-so at night. It has pencil beam effect to it.

I have hooked up crotch rocket LED taillight that has built-in signals. Nice and bright. have hooked up LED signals on the front. For the life of me cannot get them to blink on their own. They will come on, and you can make them blink manually by cycling the switch. Perhaps someone that knows 12v electrics can sort it out.

She has new gel-cell sealed battery on her. No worry about leaks.

She has Magura (German-made)  aftermarket front brake master cylinder, and Suzuki GSXR rear brake master cylinder. They are cheaply rebuilt come that time, unlike the original Yamaha ones. have stainless steel brake lines.
As you can see, the seat is cafe racer style, but passenger can still easily sit on it. The seat has very small cut on it's left-rear side, overlaid by Gorilla duct tape patch. It is hardly noticeable in person. point out where to look for it in video below.

I just replaced the fork seals, with the gracious help of friend of mine, but the left fork still leaks tiny bit. Perhaps it just needs broke in? In any case, the leakage is very very minimal.
As you can see, done simple rattle-can paint job on her. If you do not like it, it can be repainted fairly easily. used the 'Stone' finish paint, which gives it rough texture. went over it with satin clear coat.
The tires are in good shape. The chain and sprockets are in good shape.

The speedo, tach, and indicator lights work fine. The tach's light bulb is out though. have blue LED bulb for the neutral light. was not able to find green LED bulb at the time replaced it.

I disconnected the badly designed fuel tank crossover tube and blocked the outlets. That saves LOT of headache and makes the tank removal snap. If you want to hook it back up, that would be easy.

I easily have at-least $5500 in her and countless hours of labor. would not even think about selling her, but am in the process of selling out and moving overseas.

Please do not hesitate to ask any questions. You are welcome to call me. You are welcome to come by and look at her. In fact, would hope you would.

The buyer would be responsible for the shipping. The shipper can pick it up here at my house, or can haul her to Fort Smith, Arkansas to be shipped for $75 charge. am not responsible for any shipping damage or loss.

I will drive to meet you with her up to 100 miles one-way for me, for charge of $100.

I am willing to store her for 30 days pending pick-up......as long as she is paid for in full within the days prescribed.  After 30 days, then there will be $5 day storage fee.

No returns allowed. will however do my level best to make sure you are satisfied. Check my feedback. shoot straight.
I require $500 deposit to be made at Paypal within 24 hours of the close of the auction. require the balance to be paid in full within days of the auctions close, or at pick-up before the days is out.

If you pay the deposit, and do NOT pay the balance within the days, the auction will be declared void and will KEEP your deposit for my troubles. am not going to dun you for the payment, so do not expect that.

Pay the balance via personal check or money order or cashiers check mailed to me (with time to clear of course). Or cash at pick up, assuming you do the pick-up within days. If the listing says accept credit cards, that is INCORRECT. Only Paypal for the deposit,  and the balance only as stated.

I have the free clear title.

I am sure am forgetting something or another. am old forgetful bastard......but at least am still breathing, praise God!!

If you have any questions, please ask BEFORE bidding.

Kind thanks for looking and for your interest!!

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

Look at this second video at about 1:10 forward. You will see very small overlay of some Gorilla duct tape on the side of the seat on the round part of the rear hump area. Maybe an inch long and 1/4 inch wide. That is to cover up very small cut. Hardly noticeable in-person.

You may hear something of 'WAAAH" at partial throttle opening. That is due to the air box being replaced by form air filter.

Excuse me for not thinking to clean the speedo and tach lens. Kinda hard to see them at times. 60 mph is straight up on the indicator.

When pull away, get on her in second at about grand. Stay in it in third and hit 60 mph right away. When turn left at the stop sign, don't get on it until about grand again in second again, hammered all the way in third, and hit 60 mph as catch 4th gear.  am going up hill there, but you see how fast hit 60 even going up hill.

Please excuse all the wind noise.

If were in town doing this, you would get better sense of speed. Being out in the wide open spaces of country road makes things look slower.

Something odd about the sound when am idling along. Sounds like am underwater. glitch with the smartphone suppose. It does not sound like that of course.

Thanks again!
