Up for auction is my 1982 FXR Super Glide II. You will be hard press to find one in this condition. It is unmolested with original seat, handlebars, lights, motor, tranny etc. This is the first year of the FXR and is the grandaddy of the CVO models. It even still has the commemorative badge on the front fender that Harley put only on the 1982 bikes to celebrate the buy back from AMF. Most of these badges were either lost or removed during customization. This tank is not the original tank but is a Harley tank with the correct decals. At onetime the original tank had rusted and was replaced because the original owner allowed the bike to sit un-ridden with old gas in it for way too long. The bike came red from the factory. I am the 3rd owner. The bike was purchased from Phil Peterson Harley Davidson in Miami Fl. and remained in Miami until purchased it in Feb 2018.The gas tank, odometer and tachometer are not the original from the factory. They were replaced. have the original tach and speedo which is in the last photo that shows the mileage at 19,768 when the speedo and tach were replaced. The pegs and grips were replaced as well. Probably when the bike was new.The bike was refurbished at the time the speedo was replaced. This includes the following;new tiresnew battery and battery cablesoriginal carburetor rebuildoil changespark plugsnew coilnew primary chainnew statornew transmission sprockettransmission sealtranny fluidnew drive chainnew clutch assemblySo all these items have only 646 miles on them. The exhaust on the bike is Harley Davidson performance exhaust part number 80071-82. have the original exhaust in the box that the performance exhaust came in back in 1982. The original exhaust was painted black and looks bad. Could probably be cleaned up but don't think it would look new.The FXR came factory with wire wheels. The original owner upgraded to the gold mag wheels when he bought the bike in 1982. The backrest was an upgrade as well, The FXRS came with the back rest and silver mag wheels and was two tone paint scheme. The FXR was single color. The bike starts right up and runs strong. It's great just to start it up and listen to the potato, potato chug of the ol' shovelhead Here is video https://youtu.be/In6NITU6BMwThe cons;The chrome shows some aging. The worst is the chrome fork dust covers which are shown in the second to last photos. The chrome license plate mount has surface rust on it. The rest is in good shape with very light blistering/dulling from that Florida air on the chrome strut covers. The heads look beautiful. The front tire does loose air after sitting couple months. think it's the valve stem but it hasn't bothered me enough to do anything about it. would fix it if was changing the tire.Sometimes the check ball lets oil through when the bike sits for long which causes little bit of oil coming out of the vent tube at startup. If the bike sits for awhile without starting there is in the vent line (see 6th photo) that open up and let the oil dump into small bowl upon startup so it doesn't dump on the floor. then put the oil back in the tank. It doesn't do it all the time so I've left it be. Pickup and delivery is the responsibility of the buyer. will assist in shipping if this is needed but the buyer will need to set it all up.Deposit is due within 48 hours. Pay the rest via cash, money order or cashiers check.Feel free to ask any questions. Happy bidding.
EDIT: added photo to try and show the chrome fenders strut condition that was mentioned.
