1983 BMW R80ST, under 17,200miles. Fully serviced, ready to ride, new battery and tires, plus much more. This rare engine andframe number matching 1983 BMW R80ST is highly collectible BMW.  The R80ST was only built in 1983 and 1984,and is the rarest single model ever built by BMW. There were fewer than 1,600built in the 1983 model year.  It isslightly shorter than the standard chassis BMWs, so it handles very quickly andeasily through the tightest corners. The design originally started out as thehighly popular R80GS, and BMW installed 19??? front wheel instead of 21???wheel. They also installed slightly shorter rear mono shock. Design wise, theR80ST retains the basic look of the R80GS, with lower suspension and streettires to make it the ultimate bad road or back road bike.  The combination of the super smooth 800ccmotor, and the slightly lower rear gear ratio, make the R80ST VERY responsiveto the throttle This BMW is seriously fun to ride!Here is the workperformed:Installed new ringson the pistons, and gave both heads full valve job with new valve guides.While the engine wasapart, inspected the crankshaft and bearings to insure there was no damagethere. Fortunately, the bottom end was perfect. Installed new seals and gaskets on the front cam chain cover and rearmain seal and oil pump O-ring, and reassembled the motor. Cleaned and inspectedthe clutch parts.Carburetors wererebuilt, and ground upgrade kit was installed on the motor. full set of frontsteering head bearings was installed, the forks were rebuilt, and properoptional BMW accordion boots were installed to keep dirt out much better thanthe original rubber slider caps.New throttle tube andgear were installed.New handlebar mastercylinder was installed. New clutch cable was installed.New Dyna dual outlethot coil was installed to replace the typically cracked stock coil.New K&N airfilter.New plug wires andcaps were installed. Original tank liningwas chemically removed and new lining was installed using POR15 MotorcycleFuel Tank Sealer. Hand polished bothrims, and installed and serviced new front wheel bearings and seals (the rearwheel bolts directly to the final drive without any bearings). New Metzeler tiresinstalled and balanced on both wheels. There is tool tray under the seat, butthere is no BMW tool kit.
