 As others have said, Harley-Davidson purchased the MT 500 design from the British company Armstrong Equipment in 1987, in an attempt to be awarded military contracts see my attached photo for further information.  I purchased this bike new from Harley-Davidson Bayside in Portsmouth Virginia on 5/21/2001,  see some of the documentation I've attached as photos. This bike did not come with Panniers (the front mounted hard bags) or the rear mounted gun case. had debated back in 2001 to order them from the factory when they were still available. But those turned out to be $1000+ accessory and figured being over six feet tall, my knees would hit the Panniers anyway. placed two plastic ammo cases (from Northern Tools) on the rear rack for storage. These are not permanently bolted to the bike, just clamped in place, if you wish to remove them.   

 This bike has some history in that rode it on the First Annual 9/11 ride in 2002 from the Pentagon to the Twin Towers Ground Zero Site with hundreds of other motorcycles, this one was the most attention grabbing.

  I've taken great care of this bike and used straight synthetic oil in it since new. purchased spare oil filters, spare clutch throttle cables and other small items that will go to the new owner.

  love this bike but with lifestyle changes, rarely ride anymore. My purchase invoice shows $6,875.50, so that is the least can take for this extremely rare machine. Oh and the person trying to sell their MT 500 on here for $13,000....overpriced in my humble opinion.
