2002Harris Performance R71 One of eight R71 frame kits made by Harris Performance, verified by Steve Harris before they struck the jig. I'm the third owner of the kit, have the original purchase statement and all receipts from the build.
This is one-off, hand-built race bike. It's not street legal in any way, no title, no registration.
This project was the build of lifetime, and labor of love for me. Plenty out there on the web about Firehawk (me) and my love for the R7. Built first generation R7 replica years ago, then owned an actual R7 for time. Sold everything around 2008 after fighting off cancer. Went couple years, then found this kit in the UK. Building one was always my dream, decided to do it right. No expense was spared.
Few notes: 1) Harris R71 frame was designed to hold first generation 98-01 R1 motor. Decided to use 2002 fuel-injected R1 motor instead. Had to design and mill new engine plates to fit it. 2) Motor has less than 30 miles since build. Tim Radley at RaceDevelopments UK did the porting and valving, including YEC cams, springs and seats. Lee's Performance in North Carolina performed assembly, including CE pistons,Carillo rods, titanium fasteners, APE tensioner, balance, and ceramic bearings. Other details include Arrow Superbike titanium exhaust, YEC ECU, Graves slide stops, velocity stacks, custom-made airbox, and tuning performed by Attack Racing. After break-in, bike made 170 at the rear wheel and 84 ft/lbs of torque on VP C12. Have the dyno sheets.  3) Ohlins forkscame from Stobart Honda CBR1000RR superbike, ridden by Shakey Byrne in the British Superbike championship. Version is FG267 (kit forks), with 51/56mm body. Shock also came from CBR1000RR BSB superbike. 4) Have two sets of bodywork; QB Carbon upper/lower with headlight slots, and Airtech upper/lower with no headlight slots. Neither have been fitted to the bike yet. Comes with OEM headlight support for the QB work, and kit R7 fairing support for the Airtech work.
5) Tail section is fiberglass, lifted from the mould of 2009 Yamaha YZR-M1 MotoGP bike. The gent who made the tail for me only made one, then stopped communicating. It's the only one know of. 6) Building custom kit required number of custom-made CAD parts: triple clamps, engine plates, rear disc carrier, rear discadapter, steering stem, radiator support brackets, front brake distributionblock, rear wheel spacers, front wheel guides, rear caliper hanger.
7) About 95% of the fasteners in the bike are titanium (mostly Racebolt and Mettec), including custom made axles and swingarm pivot. Having them custom-made was incredibly expensive, but just what wanted to do. Partslist:

With that said, here's the real deal.....
You will never find another race bike with this level of detail. I'm helicopter mechanic by trade, and OCD about almost everything down to lock wire and bolts. Spent four years building this bike, cataloged every aspect of the build. Can view hundreds more pictures and videos at "Harris Yamaha R71 Project" on Facebook. Several more videos on Youtube, user YamahaR1R7.
Build was 95% complete at the end of 2014, and decided (against my better judgement) to take her to the track. Hadn't been on the track in seven years. First two sessions were absolutely incredible. Raw, linear power, carrying wheel down the back straight into fifth. Suspension and brakes were far beyond anything I'd ever ridden. Third session, thought felt the throttle stick and grabbed the front brake lever. She tucked and spit me off. Bike slid about 50 feet on her right side, and stopped in the dirt. Fairings and frame sliders worked, saved the bike. Few dings in the swingarm and spot of rash on the frame.
Pictures with black tank are pre-track day. Pictures with the OEM R7 tank are after the track day, when was working on getting her back together.
Bike is currently rolling chassis, with all removed parts safely wrapped. She's spent the last four years in storage, while dealt with few personal issues. Those issues are the reason I'm selling her now. My kids are more important than hardware, and need to fight for them.
Final tally on this build was just over $60,000. Forks and frame kit were $8,000 each. Taking loss, but she needs to go.
There's only eight Harris R71 frame kits out there....just three of the eight were assembled and finished. Very very rare. Sale includes original Harris frame parts to install 4XV motor and large box of leftover parts not used in the build. The bike is not 100% finished. Even after assembly, she will require harness and electrical work, fairing fitting, minor fabrication (frame slider) and carburetor cleaning. Happy to help with information and photos during the rebuild process.
Local pickup preferred, but will work with the buyer to get it to you. I'm aware that shipping things like this will take extra work and coordination.
Offers welcome, happy to answer questions.
