*** FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED (NO HOLDS) *** READ FIRST *** WON'T ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS UNLESS YOU SHOW UP IN PERSON *** Yamaha produced the TX750 (twin) for only years (73-74). It was one of Yamaha's failures. It was Yamaha's attempt to compete with the British bikes of the time. The British bike look, think. The first TX750 production bikes in 73 had an issue with the oil sump. The sump was too shallow. The oil would whip into froth, and the engine could/would seize because it didn't have enough flowing liquid oil. Yamaha became aware of this after shipping the bikes later in 1973, and the company sent technicians to the shipping yards to replace the shallow sump with deeper sump while the bikes were still in their shipping crates.I bought it long time ago because thought it had potential to be rebuilt or reworked and be ridden bit in the meantime. also had little spare time, once.I spent lot of time and money trying to get it going after it seized solid. The bike is now in pieces but is still beautiful. Maybe someone has the time and know how and few bucks? (I would swap the engine out with something of that era. Or just go crazy using the body style.)Because you are reading further (and you can read), you're kind of interested?I have the entire original bike--the engine (rebored, pistons and rings), body and lights are all there, buckets of parts and replacement parts, eBay parts. also have an original of the rebuild manual on CD. The only thing not included is the exhaust. The exhaust was toast. Headers, yes.Do think the engine can be rebuilt to original? No. Do think the bike could be rebuilt into something totally head turning and awesome. Pfff, absolutely!Or, part it out on eBay for hundreds and hundreds more if you have the time. don't.
