For sale is my 1988 mk4 Ford Escort 1.4GL with 97,934 miles on the clocks. bought the car late last year with the intention to restore it and put bigger engine in, but never got round to it with other things going on to force the sale.

The car was purchased from an elderly gentleman who had owned it since new, and it still has the original dealership number plates and stickers on. All of the cars history is present, with all of the original Ford handbooks and extra cover bill of sale still there from when the car was bought.The car is totally original apart from the lowering springs that are currently on it just to make it sit bit prettier in the arches.

It currently has no MOT, which ran out in February, but since wasn't going to be using the vehicle never got it done. assume that for the MOT it will need bit of welding done to the sills, as they were an advisory for surface rust last year and are common place to go on these old Fords. The rear arches are also in poor shape, as seen in the photographs, but have repair panels for these to come with the car should the new owner decide to repair them.

After purchasing new battery for the car today, it runs and drives but will need to be trailered or transported home due to the lack of an MOT. The engine currently runs with slight noise to it, possibly the tappets needing adjusting, although it has done this throughout my time of driving it and never caused problem. There is slight hole in the fuel pipe just before the filter, which have put blue tape around to contain just so the engine can be seen running without fuel going everywhere, hence this hose will need replacing but is only small section. The engine bay is incredibly clean and rust free as seen in the pictures.

The bodywork on the car is in generally good condition, with the only noteworthy areas being the passengers side of the car, which had an impact from tow bar during the previous ownership as photographed, although it has affected the front wing and rear passenger door as photographed. The only other area is the potential sills and rear arches, as photographed. The sills are in good solid condition with no repairs or filler used during its' time.

The interior is in very good condition as seen, with the rear interior being near immaculate, and the front not far off. Sadly the central locking does not work on the car, which has been problem that was previously fixed, and is shown within the Haynes Manual supplied with the mischievous connection shown for repair purposes, although the doors can all be locked and unlocked manually/with the key.

Braking is as expected with car of this age, with the discs and pads in good condition, but the car will come with new drilled and vented discs supplied but not fitted.

The V5C is present and in my name, and the car has full service history as it was completed yearly at the time of the MOT up until it ran out in February 2017.
