has 109k on the clock and has had new reconditioned engine fitted at 65k so tehnically has only covered 40 ish thousand miles with full vat receipt to the value of ??2k for works done.

I have noticed the oil light will sometimes come on the dash however there is plenty of oil in there (have checked) so more than likely the beginning of faulty sensor?
