Hi there, welcome to my auction for my vauxhall meriva, have had this car for 11 months after buying it from my sister in law who had the car for about or years before me.
well, at the moment parts of the engine are across my back seats (i apologise for the cake wrappers and mcdonalds rubbish, car was used every day until recently) as you can see in the pictures, the reason for this is strange string of events, had developed small water leak in the previous weeks which thought nothing of, just kept topping up my water as you do and all was fine, then started hearing strange noise coming from the engine but it became louder when was accelerating, again it was one of the things on my "to do" list, one day the car got very noisy whilst driving along and felt her pull against me in which was near layby so pulled straight in (im unsure to this day if used throttle or coasted) as the car came to stop all the engine lights were on as if had stalled, opened up the bonnet and the CAM casing had popped open slightly, so got recovery out to tow me home and opened up the CAM casing and there was no belt on the cogs, after further investigation from friend who knows what hes doing half the car was distributed across the back seats and passenger foot well, he thinks that of the valves may be shot but he is unsure as the hydraulics are still attached, the belt needs replacing but it hasnt snapped.
Sorry for the story but anyone who knows what they are doing may be able to see from my description of events whether or not she would be worth taking chance on, anyway lets get on with summary........
Good points....body work is great throughout except scratch on passenger door which could possibly be t-cut out and some slight bubbling on the wheel arches1.6 ecotech engine (once its repaired)manual petrol, 2 front tires which were replaced in april and have done less than 1000 miles, good proper sized spare, nearly full tank of petrolsteering controls for stereo/ cd playertwin sunroofgreat fuel consumptionvery pretty once shes clean!rear windows control on drivers door (for unruly children that cant help but play with them)
Bad points.....Non runner at presentrear tyres are close to limit (another thing that was on my to do list)knocks on full lock turning rightpower steering occasionally plays up (great work out though!)- possibly recall from vauxhall but haven't looked into it any furthershort MOT (september) one key which fob doesnt work so have to open manuallyneed to open boot with key as it seems to have detached itself from the central lockingback window heater doesnt work and rear wiper hanging off my dad wanted it to replace on his meriva but it was stubborn and wouldnt come off !)Alloys are scratched (nothing to do with me, blame my sister in law!)Has mind of her own- occasionally the one button that does work on the fob when it sees fit can change its mind as to whether it will unlock or lock the doors on day to day basis, sometimes can walk away after locking her up and she will unlock as walk past!
Im starting her at ??150 on bid as this covers the fuel thats in the tank and the new tyres, any more than that is bonus to me but need funds as im community carer and need car asap, decided that as paid 1100 for her after being quoted around 650 for her to be repaired (mainly labour costs!) have decided to call it day, ironically was looking at getting seater shortly before she died on me so think maybe me and the meriva was not meant to be, hope she does her next keeper proud
Happy bidding, sorry for all the waffling on, feel free to ask any questions and will do my best to answer themand of course, car is sold as seen as am no mechanic cash on collection from Bridgwater, Somerset
