I’ve looked after this car. I still have trouble understanding why I’m buying new one to replace it. I’ve watched similar Mondeos on eBay andbelieve that this one is very good buy compared to the majority put up forauction or on Buy-It-Now.I bought it when it was just under one year old. Only oneprevious owner. Current mileage is justover 124,000 miles.Full service history. Most recent service June 2016. Original handbook and radio handbook included. MOT to June 2017 with no advisories.ABS, PAS, electric windows all round (all working), air con,FM/AM radio/CD, remote central locking (2 keys), heated front screen, adjustablesteering wheel, dual radio controls by steering wheel, electrically adjustable driver’sseat and wing mirrors, Ford branded interior mats and rubber boot liner… etc. Interior and bodywork not spotless but goodfor the age.Mondeos of this agetend to have similar problems. Here ishow I’ve dealt with themFront and rear shocks tend to wear out – all replaced 2011Front coil springs snap – both replaced 2011Factory fitted radio/CD loses FM tuning ability – replaced2013Handbrake cable seizes – most recently replaced 2015Boot will not open by hand – use clicks of the thirdbutton on the key to open bootHeadlamps oxidise and go cloudy – refurbished usingMeguiar’s Headlight Restoration Kit.Glove box release breaks – replaced 2016Hatchback telescopic struts go soggy – replaced 2016Rear anti-roll bar bushes go and knocking noise produced –replaced 2015Washer pump seizes if run dry – replaced 2007 and made surethere is always water in the bottleFront screen heater elements pack up – new heated screen oninsurance when it cracked circa 2014The battery was 3½ years old with 3-year warranty, so itpacked up autumn 2016! It now has abrand-new AA branded battery with 4-year warranty on it.Central locking works fine but like many older Fords it canoccasionally lock doors when travelling or even when stationary, even with theengine running. When this happens, alldoors will still open from inside. However, don’t ever get out and leave the key in the car!Air con less efficient as the years pass – most recentlyserviced and topped up 2016 and now fine.Extras included: The car has tow bar and dual socketelectrics, but has only occasionally towed borrowed small trailer for campinggear. There is bike rack included, which slots into platebehind the tow ball. You also get theFord lock-on roof rack. Also, trailerlighting board with the correct number plate on it. And copy of the Haynesmanual.One downside: In June 2014, the car was side swiped on theoffside by Fiesta on the dual carriageway. My insurance company wanted to write it off at value of £1000. had front offside wing and strut replacedand osf and osr door panels beaten back into an almost-as-good-as-new conditionand all professionally sprayed to match original colour. It passed MOT to satisfy insurers to maintaincover and it has been fine since then. If you check HPI you will find this technically counts as an insurancewrite-off. Registration number: It has spent most of its life on personalisedplates, but has recently been put back onto its original registrationnumber. have all the paperwork forthis, along with the newly issued V5C (‘log book’). The rules say they no longer re-issue the MOTcertificate, so it remains valid but bears the previous registration.
