Here you have my Auction for my volkswagon T4 Caravelle Auto.
Its quite heartbreaking to be selling this van to be honest as purchased it last year with the full intention of restoring her this year. Fact is have made start over January and my body isn't letting me to continue.
MY History of the Van.
When purchased the Van (from very good friends aunt in Cardiff) it had stood for about years. The reason that it had stood was due to problem with the automatic transmission. The van wouldnt reverse and it wouldnt change gears. The first thing did when got it home was to strip down the bottom of the transmission and clean out the solonoid matrix and replace the filter and oil. Upon doing this noticed that the dash display wasnt in sync with the shifter. Close inspection showed that the selector cable had come loose. With this adjusted And the van started in Park All gears and reverse was back as it should be. Transmission shifts up ok and reverses.
Whilst doing tests of the transmission had number of burst brake pipes. These have now all been replaced so the brakes are now usable.
Interior:
The interior is pretty clean and tidy. The drivers seat has some wear on the bolster. Carpets are all ok.
Wheels and Tyres:
The van has 1x spare steel wheel the wheels on the van are Mercedes alloys. With tyres that will need to be checked or replaced prior to an MOT.
Bodywork:
The bodywork is tatty and there is rust in the usual places. These include front bumper support mountings (off inner wings) have made start at replacing the N/S support but will need the welding finishing off. (O/S part is supplied.
The front bumper Support is brand new. and has been etch primed and painted black. All mounting nuts are welded on. And Radiator mountings are in place (be warned these supports dont always come with the mountings on) (can provide photo proof of the parts)
Both Left and right front wheel arches have been badly welded previously. fortunately just plated.
All the repair panels come with the van. These are all new panels which include the inner sills wheel arches the N/S panel below the filler cap.
There is no metal filler cap.
There are some dents and dings on the Drivers side of the van towards the rear.
The rear bumper needs to be removed and the bumper iron will need to be replaced (not included) The cheapest option found for this was to purchase specific type of towbar that would replace the iron.
I think its the heater unit in the O/S rear corner there is some more rust. Basically it was suspected that the drain became clogged and cause the bottom of the corner to rust.
The front end is partially bolted together but complete. The front wings have been off and put back on temporarily. (there is nothing scary to find under them rust wise.
With the exception of the back end she comes with the parts you need to rebuild it.
Paintwork:
.... Its VW the paintwork is in need of attention.
Engine:
Starts ok doesn't appear to overheat. Has no horrible noises its the 2.4 Non turbo so pretty bombproof by all accounts. (Due to the length of time its been standing would recommend replacing the cam-belt before fully putting into commission)
Transmission:
All working (after repairs)
Electrics:
All seem to be working ok.
Overall:
Ive tried to be as honest as can be regarding the van. My original Idea was to make camper out of it and to replace my Toyota Estima with it. However fact is cant bring myself to part with the estima and having two vehicles pretty much the same is pointless, dont have the time or ability to do the work on this van and it needs the attention can no longer give it.
FYI only full window Transporters can be re-registered as campers now or so im told should you wish to go down that route.
Van is Located in Kilgetty, Pembrokeshire, (South West Wales) It will happily drive onto trailer wouldnt recomend driving it as it has no MOT.
If you win it you collect it.
Happy for you to view it if you want. Send me message.
Thanks for your time.
