My beloved Golf broke down at the lights five days ago. Quite apart from it being one of the hottest days this year, and it being rush-hour, the saddest thing was the reaction of the other drivers to me 'parking' in such way. wasn't parked. was broken down. And was very sad.
Three hours in the sun and the RAC arrived to give me tow. The patrol thought it was just sensor and was cheerful and positive that the garage would be able to fix it "no problem at all love". He said the cam belt was in good condition, that the engine looked 'pretty spot on'.
The garage phoned me the next day with the grave news. "It's dead and it's going to cost you ALOT to fix it". Without giving you sob story, I'm mum, work for charity and live in rented house. Anything that 'costs ALOT to fix' is much lower down my priority than food, new school uniform for next term and making sure that we have roof over our head.
I'm devastated.
Maybe there is someone out there in ebay land that loves VW Golfs as much as do. That has the skills and the mechanical knowledge to get this car back on the road. That doesn't mind running some tests, taking some time and investigating why the engine has gone on strike. 
It doesn't start so it will need to be towed/collected on flat bed.
There is one multi-function key with the car.
It's in fairly good condition few nicks on the body work but nothing major.
