1964 Triumph Tiger 90 350cc
Here is typical lad’s bike from the early 60’s. The sporty Tiger 90 was in effect mini Bonneville or Tiger 100. The lines were just the same only scaled down version. The Tiger 90 name of course goes back to pre -war sporting 350cc singles but Triumph re-used the name again in 1963 when the sports version of the popular unit 350cc twin was introduced. This example dating from 1964 is in fine working order. It starts and runs very well indeed. It is exceptionally easy to kick-start.The engine sounds great, mechanically very quiet indeed with no smoke. It goes well enough, and will buzz along merrily all day. An ideal “easy to live with” classic.Gears and clutch are all A1. Speedometer is working although it may be reading bit slow. Brakes are excellent, especially the upgraded front 8” Bonnie Trophy item.Charging system is working very well. still original 6volt set up but showing good charge and beating the lights ok when switched on.The bike comes with V5C document, date of registration is 14th October 1964.Registration number is AKM847B, Frame number is T90-H-36159, engine number is 3TA-H-18548, these numbers ,match the V5C document. The bike is registered for HistoricClass (free) road tax and is currently MOT tested until October 2018. The bike will be pre-78 MOT exempt by next May though!Cosmetically the bike is very clean and tidy.It has very sound enamel on the frame, probably quite old but in decent condition. Tank and side panels have good quality enamel.Front rim is in very good condition, chrome with stainless spokes and nipples Front tyre is as new Avon Roadrunner.Rear rim is genuine Dunlop item that has become quite dull and has few of the inevitable flecks and patches in the chrome. It’s decent but long way from perfect. Rear spokes and nipples are old and blackened but not rusty. Rear tyre is also practically as new Avon Roadrunner. There is no fin damage on the barrel but can see the top fin above the offside exhaust port has been repaired. The engine is nice and oil tight. Definitely no leaks from around the push-rod tubes. The bike has very good centre stand and side-stand fitted. Alloy mudguards are in good condition. This is an easy going little bike. Reasonably lightweight and ultra easy to kick-up.It’s ideal for pottering around and typical classic type fun rides.Don’t miss this typical of the period 350cc Triumph on the road ready to enjoy!
