The words ‘barnfind’ are overused in bike and car ads, but in this case it’s 100% genuine -this is true barn find that got from farmer’s barn up North around 3weeks ago and am selling on now.It had beenstored away around 20-25 years ago (the owner couldn’t recall if it was rolledinto the barn in the late 80s or early 90s!) and kept dry and safe under ablanket. He pulled the same blanket off it when found it, and deal wasdone. intended to customise it for my girlfriend to use; the idea was to makeit brat style tracker, she’d get her CBT and ride it around London forpeanuts – cheap tax, insurance and fuel. But weeks ago she got Merc SLK insteadand straight away lost interest in being biker, so I’m putting it up for saleas I’m moving house in the New Year and need to sell off some non-essentialtoys!CB125s arebecoming properly sought after these days – if you look on the Bike Shed forum forexample you’ll see that maybe third of all the custom builds are Honda 125s!And this isn’t nasty, plasticky mid-80s CB125 either – it’s the real deal; apure early ‘70s classic that might well actually deserve proper restorationrather than being chopped up. So figured I’d let the new owner decide insteadwhether to restore, preserve or customise this little gem rather than start tomake it changes to it myself. It’s inreally good overall condition. haven’t even cleaned the dust off it from itsquarter century living in the barn, so it’s almost completely original. Theheadlight and indicators were removed years ago and the owner’s son put anumber plate on it instead, but new lights cost next to nothing, and everythingelse is virtually complete. As soon as got it home last month bought abrand new battery for this exact year of CB125 at cost of £50 (they variedthe electrics on these bikes during the 1970s so it’s worth paying bit extrato get the correct battery and not just any generic 125cc one). also bought abrand new kick starter for this exact model at cost of £25, as well as asecond hand manual for tenner. I’ll throw all items in with the bike, sowhatever you pay for the bike you’re already £85 ahead! The engineturns over with good compression, and the inside of the petrol tank is nice andclean, so all it should really need to get it running is some playing aroundwith the wiring, which has obviously been fiddled with over the years. The seatis worn out but the foam is ok and the base is perfectly solid, so new vinylcover for £30 or so will make it look like new. It doesn’t have V5, but theDVLA are happy to issue new one for £25, so that’s minor detail. Everythingelse appears present and correct.  The tank hasfantastic patina – it’s pretty enough to mount on shelf as piece of art. Isuppose you could get it resprayed but my choice would be to simply get itclear coated to preserve the faded colours and light surface rust. vintagebike like this is only original once, so the coolest final finish will probablybe the one that shows its history little, rather than covering it up with anew paint job. (Plus these days the vintage bikes that show their age andpatina always fetch more in resale than the ones that are tarted up to looklike new again.)This ispretty much the perfect winter project. The bike is so light and takes up solittle room that just rolled it in the front door of my house and into thedining room, where it’s currently piece of sculpture! Even if you lived in aflat in the centre of town, you could easily push it up the stairs and work onit at the end of your bed over the winter in readiness for riding in Spring! Youcould pop the engine and carb out in few minutes, sand and spray the frameblack, do some rewiring and have lovely little bike that’ll be super cheap torun while turning heads wherever it goes. Early ‘70sCB125s in original condition are super rare now, so this one definitely hasvalue. I’m selling it on no reserve auction though as it needs to go, sosomeone could grab complete vintage bargain. Boring stuff- you’ll need van or decent-sized estate car to take the bike away but I’mhappy to help load it up. You’re bidding to buy, not to come and view. It’s inEssex, few miles from Stansted (CM22). Cash on collection, and collectionwithin week of winning the auction please, as I’m away most of December. Thanks and good luck!
