RELUCTANT SALE OF MY 1976 SUZUKI GT750A.DUE TO SHOULDER INJURY HAVE DECIDED TO SELL DUE TO THE SIZE AND WEIGHT OF THE BIKE,I HAVE OTHER MUCH LIGHTER BIKES THAT ARE MORE MANAGEABLE FOR ME NOW.I HAVE OWNED THE BIKE SINCE 2007, ITS UK BIKE,AND RODE IT FOR THE FIRST SEASON OWNED IT WHEN THE INEVITABLE CRANK SEAL FAILURE OCCURRED AS THE BIKE HAD BEEN LAID UP PRIOR TO MY OWNERSHIP.I THEN SET ABOUT RESTORING IT AND WITH WORK AND OTHER PROJECTS PROGRESS WAS SLOW TO SAY THE LEAST,BUT IT IS FINALLY FINISHED.THE ENGINE WAS STRIPPED AND THE CRANK WAS REBUILT,NEW CONRODS WERE FITTED ALONG WITH GENUINE SUZUKI BEARINGS AND GENUINE OIL SEALS,A FRESH SET OF BARRELS THAT HAD NOT BEEN BORED BEFORE WERE FOUND AND HAS BEEN BORED 0.5MM OVERSIZE AND NEW QUALITY PISTONS FITTED AND ALL ASSEMBLED WITH QUALITY ATHENA GASKET SET.NEW SRIS VALVES AND NEW OIL LINE BALL VALVES ALSO FITTED.CARBS WERE STRIPPED AND KEYSTER CARB KITS FITTED.IT WAS ALSO TREATED TO NEW BOYER BRANSDEN IGNITION SYSTEM AND NEW COILS.IT ALSO HAS NEW WATER PUMP AND DRIVE COG.NEW COOLANT HOSES FITTED AND CHROME HOSE CLIP COVERS.PLEASE NOTE THIS HAS JUST BEEN COMPLETED IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS SO SEALS ETC ARE FRESH.LESS THAN 50 MILES SINCE.THE BIKE ALSO BENEFITS FROM THE OPTIONAL COOLING FAN WHICH HAVE WIRED WITH MANUAL OFF/ON SWITCH THAT IS NEATLY AND DISCREETLY PLACED ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE UNDER THE FUEL TANK SHOULD IT BE NEEDED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC.THE FUEL TANK AND SIDE PANELS HAVE PROFESSIONAL PAINTED AND NEW DECALS APPLIED AND LAQUERED OVER.NEW BADGES WERE THEN OBTAINED AND FITTED.THE FRONT BRAKING SYSTEM HAS BEEN TOTALY SORTED.THE CALIPERS HAVE BEEN REBUILT USING NEW PISTONS AND SEALS,GENUINE BRAKE HOSES AND ALSO NEW MASTER CYLINDER.AT THE FRONT END ALSO THE FORKS HAVE BEEN REBUILT WITH NEW STANCHIONS AND SEALS AND THE LOWER LEGS POLISHED,THE FORK EARS AND HEADLAMP BOWL HAVE BEEN RECHROMED AND THE REST OF THE CHROMEWORK AND FITTINGS IS ALL NEW.MOVING UP, THE HANDLEBARS ARE NEW WITH NEW GENUINE SWITCHGEAR,GRIPS AND MIRRORS.THE SPEEDO AND TACHO BODIES HAVE BEEN REPAINTED AND THE WARNING LIGHT BINNACLE THINK WAS NEW,ALSO ALL CONTROL CABLES WERE RENEWED.IT ALSO HAS NEW INDICATOR LIGHTS.ONE KEY FITS ALL LOCKS.COMPLETE WITH OWNERS HANDBOOK AND TOOL KIT.YOU ARE ALSO WELCOME TO THE HAYNES MANUAL THAT HAVE.A NEW SUZUKI SEAT WAS SOURCED AT GREAT EXPENSE,A NEW GRABRAIL WAS FITTED AS IT WAS MISSING AND THE REAR MUDGUARD WAS RECHROMED,THE FRONT INCIDENTALLY IS GENUINE NEW ONE.NEW REAR SHOCKERS ARE FITTED,AS ARE NEW FOOTREST RUBBERS ETC.THE EXHAUSTS ARE ORIGINAL RECHROMED ITEMS WITH NEW BAFFLE ASSEMBLIES FITTED WITH ALL WADDING INTACT.IT HAS NEW BATTERY TOO.THE WHEELS HAVE BEEN REBUILT WITH NEW RIMS AND SPOKES AND HUBS REFURBISHEDAND HAVE BEEN FITTED WITH NEW AVON TYRES.IT HAS NEW AIR CLEANER FRAME AND USES SILKOLENE SYNTHETIC STROKE OIL.IT STARTS ON THE TOUCH OF THE BUTTON AND YOU CAN DROP THE CHOKE OFF ALMOST IMMEDIATLY,IT PULLS WELL IN ALL GEARS AND THE GEAR INDICATOR WORKS AS IT WAS REPLACED WITH NEW ONE.IT WAS MOT'D TODAY AND OF COURSE IT PASSED,IT WOULD HAVE BEEN EMBARRASSING IF IT HAD'NT!!,IT IS OF COURSE 40 YEARS OLD SO WILL BECOME TAX EXEMPT FROM NEXT JANUARY.IT IS ALL IN ALL VERY VERY NICE EXAMPLE OF THIS ICONIC BIKE,I AM NOT CLAIMING IT WILL WIN EVERY CONCOURS THAT IT IS ENTERED IN IF YOU WISH AS FIND THEM BIT ANAL AND IS FINE IF YOU WANT TO TAKE YOUR BIKE AROUND IN TRANSIT VAN ALL THE TIME,BUT IS CERTAINLY MUCH ADMIRED AND GOOD EXAMPLE.THESE ROCKETING IN VALUE AND PART OF ME TELLS ME TO KEEP IT BUT IT WANTS USING AND FOR THE REASONS STATED ABOVE IT WILL NOT GET USED AS MUCH AS IT SHOULD.I HATE TO THINK WHAT HAVE SPENT ON IT.PRICE REFLECTS THE TIME AND MONEY SPENT,TRY BUYING PROJECT AND DOING ONE YOURSELF!!
