Now word about Misterflump: Deep underground in the heart of rural Essex there is secret bunker. No, not the now well known and commercialised Cold War secret bunker near Brentwood, but another one, more intriguing, less accessible, and filled with mouth watering and eye poppingly, unashamedly masculine, delights.
Misterflump was our feisty pet rabbit, who refused to be caged. So we let him live in our garden, in burrow under our shed. He was rabbit with attitude who would give certain inquisitive Golden Retriever hard kick on the nose if he ventured too close. One day in an early spring, after spending several days devouring my wife's prize pansies, he disappeared. He is currently a.w.o.l. but we have reason to believe he is out there somewhere indulging his passion for unearthing rare treasures particularly those that appeal to the male ego. We have had reports of sightings of him from as far away as Tasmania, although we prefer not to believe the redneck from Arizona who brutishly emailed us to report that he had just flattened large grey rabbit with long floppy ears, with his pick up truck on dusty desert road.
The most convincing proof we have that Misterflump is still alive is his bunker, to which have honoured access. In there have discovered multitude of his finds, from lots of lovely little mopeds and Italian cafe racers, to such rarities as Bond Bugs, classic Minis, and lots and lots of classic motorcycles, mainly from the 60s and 70s. Very few folk have entered, and even fewer have left, so entranced have they been with the magic that has enchanted them there. At the moment, due to Govt restrictions no one but myself can go in, except of course Misterflump himself, who comes and goes as he pleases. But he always leaves fresh piece of motorcycle or automobile history behind. At least this is the story give my wife and daughter, to explain the mysterious but undeniable existence of what has become very large and ever growing collection of grown up boys' toys....
