1978 Classic Honda CX500 Barn find RestorationProjectHonda CX500 first registered 1978 – keepers fromnew – I’m the 3rd and I’ve had it since 1982.Supplied with V5 Registration document in my name –Bike currently SORNGenuine 17,165 miles mileage – I’ve MOTs from 1981to 1988.Bike last used in 1988/9 and ran fine then.Sincethen bike has been stored in dry barn with tyres off the floor on blocks tyres look OK and hold air) withsome oil in the cylinders.Drained tank cleaned it (would benefit from morethrough clean) added new petrol attached car battery – Engine turns over on starter button Get compression and sparks on bothplugs Won’t start carb flooding /overflowing (can’t be bothered to dismantle/clean out) All lights and indicators workQuite bit of mainly surface rust all over withfront mudguard quite badly affected.Bike comes with genuine Rickman Honda CX500 fairingand top box.
