For sale is my stunning, very old and rare in this condition Japanese built 1979 Honda CG125 K1.
Its an incredibly rare 1979 Japanese Import (as in genuine manufacture import, the CG125's were built in Japan and exported all over the world until 1985, after which they were built in brazil) and aside from couple of age related marks (bit of chrome pitting here and there), it's in time warp condition. Up until June last year, the bike had almost never been touched and had spent 35 years untouched in an old chaps garage under sheet, forgotten about. bought it to ride instead of look at and so although it had 76 miles on the clock from new (yes, you read that right see the pictures), it now has little over 1200 as potter about on it on warm sunny days. Also have look at the MOT history on https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history (REG. NGF 87V) - it gained miles upon passing it's MOT and only failed because it still had it's original Nitto branded tyres fitted which had cracked and weren't deemed safe.
For 40 year old machine the condition is unprecedented and guarantee you will never see another one as original as this, certainly haven't and spent years looking. Not many of them survived the learner schools and 17 year old chavs ragging the nuts off them.
This one however is the opposite, it's been lovingly cared for, it starts on the first or second kick every time, the gearbox is lovely and supple, the clutch is buttery smooth and everything works as it should it runs like watch. It even comes with the original tool kit. Added bonus, it's nearly tax and MOT exempt.
It isn't in concours condition, but at the same time it certainly wouldn't take lot to get it there. However it's in such well preserved condition that for me at least, doing anything other than leaving it as it is and maintaining it's existing condition would be shame, it's survived so well and as it stands it has so much character.
As well as the bike and two original keys with the original Honda dealer keyring (Doble's), also have folder full of documentation, including the original sales invoice, service books and warranty information, as well as loads more besides see the link for more pictures.
Viewing is welcome and encouraged, however the price isn't negotiable at this time know what it is, know what it's worth and I'm in no rush whatsoever to sell it so no chancers please if you can find another one that's comparable to this, then please get in touch and we'll talk numbers; I'm confident this won't happen.
This is your chance to own genuine piece of motorcycle history, feel free to do some price comparisons, I'm sure you'll agree I've priced it fairly.
The bike really does have to be seen to be believed and everywhere go on it, get stopped it gets so much attention all the time, particularly at Squires in North Yorkshire, grew up nearby and still live just down the road. In the time I've had it, I've had people make offers on it on several occasions when I'm out and about and really do think this is because the CG125 is one of the most famous learner bikes the world has ever seen its legendary reliability and utter simplicity meant the mechanicals barely changed between its inception in '76 to its demise due to emissions regs in 2008 and the number of people I've spoken to who blame their biking bug on the CG125 is insane if you know anything about small Honda's you'll know these bikes are the stuff of legends for so many reasons.
You are buying; - The bike as it is viewing highly recommended- x2 original keys- tin with quite few miscellaneous spares- lever arch folder containing loads of history and paperwork, including the original invoice and handover sheet, service book, manual, Haynes manual, the original tin number plate and even an original copy of Road Bike magazine printed in 1979, whereby CG exactly the same as this featured as the profiled bike. There's double page spread with review and road test, some technical information and service data!
You can view more pictures of the bike at https://www.dropbox.com/sh/57d94rpuv7oetek/AAD5TJp7e1iWtVohRwIN_ghTa?dl=0 . If you would like any photos of anything specific at all please ask and I'll upload them to the above link.
Happy to have chat over the phone also, please get in touch.
Many thanks.
