Bought as non runner last year with suspected electrical issues, but tested coil, replaced spark plug (NGK) and replaced CD box and the bike has spark.
Stripped the carb and cleaned and the bike has fuel
Air filter is dirty, but wouldn't stop it running
The final thing to check was compression and after test it's delivering less than 50PSI, so this was the issue that was stopping the bike running.
Valves checked and new shims replaced to make the gaps to factory spec and thought this would fix the compression as the exhaust valves were way out, but no joy still less than 50PSI compression.
After consulting my friend google, it says the head needs to come off and this is where my skills end, so it's time for the bike to go for spares or repair as I've given up hope of getting the bike running for the fast approaching season.
The bike has cosmetic scratches on the fairings, surface rust on the frame, brake calipers, wheels. Well just about everywhere.
It didn't bother me as was going to repaint and use as an economical way to get back into biking, but for absolute clarity it's £300 bike and no beauty queen.
Brakes, not checked but feel ok
Crank case inspection cover missing as it wouldn't budge when needed to get the bike to TDC, so this will need replacing (see pic).
Missing both wing mirrors.
Recent new battery from Halfords and spare if you want it.
Fairings loose, but an easy fix. (I'll probably tightening these up if get time)
So in summary project for someone with more knowledge of bikes than me or to be used as parts for another bike or sold for spares.
