right, where to start?I got this bike from work college who had owned for over 10 years and after letting collect dust in his garage for the whole duration and pending house move had decided to sell.needless to say his wife was overjoyed! and mine... not so much. The bike had previously been used as courier bike prior to my work college owning the bike and as such has clocked up an impressive 166,560 miles!! but looked like it had covered twice that.but been the optimist that am had faith in this old girl (mostly due to the very impressive service history) and rushed straight to the pc to order truck load of parts, not fully consisting of;batteryfork oil and sealsbreak fluid and sealsengine oil and filterair filterspark plugsrear brake disccoolant
these are mostly parts that have never been missed on the services in the past, this guy knew how to care for his bike and as such was performing full service every two weeks!! (2500-3500 miles) don't know where he found the time because his arse couldn't have ever left the seat! sun, rain, snow, probably even Mt Everest this guy and bike have been everywhere!so.. after dragged the bike out of retirement and proceeded to bring it back to life, came across few problems as you could imagine; most of the wiring has either been crimped and replaced or altered in some way to make room for heated grips, home made 12v output or anything else this guy felt the need to add on to the bike. have managed to get the bike running with the said wiring loom and still have it should you want it? but has since been replaced with very good second hand loom.numerous broken bolts which for the most part have been repaired, what's left could easily be drilled and have nut and bolt replace what's there.faulty starter relay and blocked fuel filter were also replaced.along with rebuilding the brakes and the forks and performing very meticulous service, (carbs cleaned, all fluids changed, all filters changed, spark plugs changed) the bike is as it stands now, still requiring some work.I have spent what feels like my whole life trying to remove white gloss from the fork legs, the wheels and anything else he felt the need to protect from the elements.I've then had to smooth, prepare and paint the parts, that in all fairness to the guy have stood up the challenge of courier life remarkably well. and are as you see them now on the bike.
so just to recap the bike is mostly there, from the dog recovered from the garage too the lovely Japanese beauty you see before you however the is still some work to be done.. there is still some paintwork to be done on the bike to bring it up to a suitable standard, front and back brake switches need replacing, along with installing the front indicators, balancing the carbs correctly and replacing the front dip beam bulb the bike should be ready for an mot.
now here comes the boring bit... I'm only selling the bike due to the arrival of my first child, and no longer have the time to complete the work required, this also means have no time to deal with people who aren't serious about buying the bike. the work done to the bike is not comprehensive have done more than what is stated and any serious buyer some contact me directly as have lot more pictures to show what has been invested in to this bike. with that said the work required for mot standard is not comprehensive, am not an mot tester I'm an electrician and repair bikes purely as hobby. however I've had bikes in for mot before and feel confident the list is complete.
final picture is of the actual engine with the rocker cover removed, just to give an indication of how good an engine this is.
any further questions or to make sensible offer contact me directly on 07578250320thanks in advanceVince.
