Honda XL175 1977 model-USAMOT done in August 2017UK registration process completed in August 2017HelloI have for sale recently restored XL175-1977. purchased the bike last year as restoration project. Once the work was complete applied for authentication letter from the VJMC(vintage Japanese motorcycle club) who provided me with certificate that was able to use to have the bike tested (MOT-August 2017) and registered. Then applied for UK registration which has now been completed.The following describes the work that has been done. have been very thorough regarding the required work and the obtaining of parts-several of which were obtained from the states.Bike stripped-frame, swing arm foot pedals stand rear springs and handlebar brackets shot blasted and powder coated.Engine-stripped down-checked all parts. Changed all O-rings and seals. New bolts fitted to engine and crankcase covers. New gaskets fitted including head. New piston and rings-standard size-cylinder honed out. New dynamo cover. Oil changed. Engine cleaned. Mileage on clock is just over 3700 - I cannot confirm if this is correct but the cyclinder was in specification.New air filter installed-UNO-correct model for bike.Carbruettor-new kit installed. NOS insulator also plus gasket.Exhaust system-purchased used header pipe plus very good used condition muffler that cost over £300 after delivery costs and import duty. Both cleaned and re-sprayed with VHT paint. New gasket.New seat cover.Used mudguards imported. Cleaned up and laquered.Tank-re-lined with POR15. Pinholes filled. Tank re-sprayed including red stripe and white border rather than decal. Not perfect spray job but looks good-see photos. New fuel tap with filter. Cap seal replaced.Kickstart lever-new installed.Gear selector shaft and lever-NOS installed. New drive sprocket.Neutral switch-new installed.Electrics-damaged wires replaced. New connectors fitted where required. Main loom wrapped with protective spiral where appropriate. New spark plug and cap. New battery. Bulbs replaced where required.New rear brake light switch installed.Tyres-new fitted and new innertubes.Brakes-new shoes fitted to front brake. Rear checked-ok.Side covers imported and repaired (both had small cracks) and sprayed.All parts cleaned and polished including wheels and forks-new dust seals fitted and fork oil changed.Many parts were from David Silver and CMSNL plus NOS from other sources. may have missed some parts on this list as have replaced that many.I will supply in addition service manual re-print. laminated every page-wiring included. This is an excellent resource.To confirm-the bike has test certificate valid up to August 2018 and is registered in the UK-V5C supplied by DVLA. Number plate should arrive by the next day. Also as the vehicle is over 40 years old it is now tax exempt.There have been many hours spent on this bike and have achieved what intended to do-restore an old enduro. Please consider the bike's age-it is not perfect but it looks good and is lovely runner.Please-no time wasters or silly offers. Cash on collection. Thankyou.
