1997 Honda XR 400 Spares or Repair. Approx 40,000 Km. V5C presentand in my name and address where the bike will be collected. Frame and enginenumbers are all correct as per the V5C. am the 2nd owner of thisbike.  I have owned this bike since June 2012 and it has given me many greatmemories and adventures. have literally ridden this motorbike to the Gobidesert in Mongolia and back. love this bike and as write this listing I'malready starting to regret selling but need to move on.  The bike was last used June 2016 when unfortunately it had pistonmeltdown (almost straight after the MOT) which has destroyed the piston andcylinder. believe this has occurred due to worn and imbalanced main conrodbearing. Everything you see in the pictures is included in the sale. The bike comes with genuine rims (currently attached) with pretty muchbrand new rear Sava 120/80/18 MC24 Invader and front Mitas 90/90/21 MC24Invader road tyres. These are fully road legal tyres. Sava and Mitas are thesame brand also so matching pattern tyres bought at the same time.  Also second set of rims (origin unknown) which use for off roadtyres so can easily swap wheels if wanted to go trail riding.  Few random off road tyres and tubes. Front Pirelli Scorpion (used), rearMichelin AC10 (used) and an unknown brand rear (new). Brand new DID 520 ring chain with split links attached. Covered 40miles if that. New rear 42 tooth sprocket for road use and new 15 tooth front sprocket(attached) and also spare 15 front sprocket.  Lots of odds and sods from my years of ownership. There are heads (1destroyed) cylinders (both destroyed, maybe could be bored by 0.5mm andused with new 86.5mm piston£) cams (1 ok, suspect). Random bits offairing. Aluminium sump/frame guard. 22L Adventure fuel tank.  Everything is here to make complete bike but you will need either anew cylinder or re-bored as well as new piston and would suggest newconrod kit as the original has spent too long being un-balanced and damage willhave occurred. The reason believe the conrod to be unbalanced is because Ichanged this in Russia after previous piston meltdown (hence the sparecylinders etc) but didn’t have the equipment to complete full balance ofthe engine so did this by eye and using lathe which ran the bike for afurther 10,000 miles before this breakdown.  The bike was being partially rebuilt for my next Russian adventure in2016 but due to the breakdown it never made it hence the new parts fitted. Ihave always maintained the bike well but must admit have done things thatit was never designed for hence the breakdowns. The rear sub frame also doeshave additional strengthening to allow carrying of luggage but this isn’t thecleanest of upgrades but practical.  The front suspension had new seals and oil done and also the rearrebuilt with new seals, oil and gas just before it’s last MOT in June 2016 butthese have sat since so may need adjustment/cleaning. The bike also has beenrewired with DC voltage system. This means the engine components use ACvoltage as standard but DC circuit has been installed with small batteryallowing use of 12v socket, heated grips and LED bulbs meaning longer lifeand more stable lighting at tick over etc. This can easily be changed back asthere is not much involved in the wiring systems of these bikes.  The bike is for collection only from postcode area TS18 (Hartburn,Stockton on Tees). It is sold as seen and therefore am happy to allow viewingor answer any questions you have. If you live near me could possibly arrangedelivery within 10 mile range at no cost but you need to ask me first tocheck possibility.  I believe with some TLC this will be great bike for many years tocome. don’t go trail riding anymore and to be honest it’s not the best foradventure riding (long distance is un-comfortable) so it needs to go and willupgrade to something else. Happy bidding everyone.
