2007 Suzuki RMZ 450
I have had this bike about years, but it has remained in the shed and unused for most of that time. always wanted one of the early Suzuki carb bikes and found this for sale from the son in law of someone raced vintage bikes with and knew it had only been raced handful of times in the years he owned it and maintained meticulously between. Around the time bought it sub'ed for friend in team enduro and before knew what was happening I'd done my DAS bought KTM EXC and was signing up for an enduro series. Between that and the vintage 2strokes i'd had it years and not even started it. recommissioned it last summer and did 40 minute cross country 'fun' event back in the autumn and it ran faultlessly.
The previous owner had done an engine rebuild (cams, bottom end, piston etc) before the start of the season and he only raced it times that year. He slapped new piston in it before he sold it to me and only got around to running it in last summer. It has had recent oil change and filter as well as new chain and sprockets. The previous owner also tricked it out with few bling trinkets such as colour coded brake lines and rad hoses, billet throttle tube, billet brake pedal and ASV clutch lever.
The bike is generally very clean for the year and is still very quick. He was carpenter though and sadly the acid from the wood in the van he used to transport it has cleared some of the anodizing on the fork tubes.....but you only really notice up close as the decals have protected it in the middle. The shock has gone soft and could do with rebuild or regas but this can be done at most shops and isn't expensive.
