This machine has recently had significant make over and now is finished as TR6C replica. This gives it wide handle bars, USA spec tank and the high exhaust system all of which are new. have also replaced the tyres, rims and spokes, steering bearings, fitted an electronic ignition system and new carburettor. Additionally the bike has been rewired, has modern voltage regulator and new battery. Other new items include instruments, cables, fuel taps and pipes, many of the fastenings, both mudguards, the tank badges, the fuel and oil filler caps, fork springs, seals, seal holders and gaiters, the list goes on!
It looks amazing and runs really well. It starts readily, idles well, pulls strongly and cleanly and brakes well. The steering is spot on too. There are no leaks, rattles or smoke. The battery charges and all the electrics work fine.
I bought this bike as project from the Stafford show three years ago. It is an ex Police machine. It was looking bit scruffy although the basics worked fine. have receipts for full engine rebuild some time ago. decided it to refresh it and the results are good.
1970 was the final year of the pre oil-in-frame 650 Triumphs and these are considered to be the most valuable of the unit twins. In particular the engines are powerful, the twin leading shoe front brake is considered to be about the best there is, and the styling is just so right. This is matching numbers UK bike which adds certain exclusivity! lot of these machines have been brought back from the USA, home models are bit rarer.
If you are looking for British classic with strong kerb appeal, good parts availability, good investment value which is usable and as vice free as possible, this machine is good choice. single carburettor, new fuel and ignition system coupled with the other recent work adds up to machine that is rideable and desirable. have done all the work myself.
I have too many bikes in my collection and regrettably this one will have to go. have featherbed Norton which is my long term Brit twin.
The bike has historic status so there is no MOT or road tax required.
