 2008 Yamaha WR250R
Spares or Repair
99p Auction Start No Reserve
I bought batch of these WR250R trail bikes; they were previously being used by company that were running trail tours in Spain (Toro Trail). They were all originally purchased new in the UK, and vat was paid on all the bikes at that time. But they were never road registered in the UK, as they were immediately taken out to Spain and ridden on the trails.
Of these bikes, I've serviced of them, done some paperwork to get them road registered with V5 documents, and sold them. They've sell for ??2,300-??2,600 depending on condition.

But I've got lot of other stuff in my life besides these WR bikes, and it's taking me so long I've decided to sell some as they are as projects. Hence this listing.

The paperwork aspect has not been difficult, complicated or expensive. Though it does take longer than I'd have liked. breakdown below of what's required:
Contact Yamaha UK, giving them VIN number and photo of the VIN, asking for dating letter
This takes between and weeks, and costs ??40 (from memory, or it could be ??42/??45)Get the bike MOT'dGet NOVA letter (I used an online service. They charged ??30 and it took few days)Get the bike insured (must use the VIN number)Send completed V55/5 form off to the DVLA with the above docs, along with ??55 registration fee and payment for one years tax (??38 think?)
Done.
The bikes I've done have not been all that hard work, valves needed lapping in, valve clearances needed doing, and generally they they fired up fine and sounded good. While in there did whole host of other general servicing work, but in terms of getting the bikes going, it's not been too hard.
As you can see from the photos they are bit rough, and have obviously been used lot off-road. But they are tough little bikes and are incredible high spec for little 250cc trail bikes. Just one example They have self diagnostics mode on the speedo display, which cycles through dozens of on-board tests (you can start/stop each test and see the result instantly). Very rare on bike like this.

As said bought small batch of these bikes. I've worked on them one by one, taking one bike and doing it start to finish. have not touched this bike or made any ind of evaluation of what will be needed to get it running and on the road.
The only thing have noticed that is missing, is the speedo/computer. So have no idea what mileage the bike is recorded as having done.
Assume you're basically getting what you can see in the photos.

A bit about the Yamaha WR250R bikes:

Fantastic trail bike that never gained widespread popularity in the UK due to its high price when sold new, but you can grab this relatively new WR for lot less than half its new purchase price.
There are actually very few true trail bikes available, as just about every real off road bike sold now is an Enduro race bike or motocross bike. There's not really anyone still making the likes of the XR250, XR400 and Serow, and the second hand bikes in this category are getting severely dated and often abused.

Which is why this WR250R is such corker! It's got all the advantages of modern off road bike: Fuel injection, USD forks, disc brakes front and rear etc etc, as well as having the reliability of non-race bike, the great economy and the easy to ride nature of proper trail bike. The engine is under-stresed meaning long service intervals, great reliability and extremely good MPG.

Read any of the reviews of this bike (TBM for example!) and you'll find that people love it. Just that no one was willing to stretch to the ??7,500 or so it cost new.
