Whilemany argue about what body style is best most tend to agree that the drop topis king! There is great deal that can be said for the 69convertible that you see pictured here.
It was purchased by high school principal in Iowaduring the summer of 1969. He took possession of it at Crown Ford which was only abouttwenty miles from his residence. The car was used extensively over the first decade primarilyas daily driver. However sometime around the mid eighties he parked it and thefamily began to utilize station wagon which was better suited for his kids. After his retirement the car was put out to pasture andoffered for sale. Another local product who knew of the cars lineage bought itand enjoyed it for approximately seven years before it was parked yet again foran extensive amount of time again for various reasons. Years later after his final child was sent off to college heembarked upon restoration that would not reach its climax until 2015! I was fortunate enough to hear about the vehicleBy gentleman who had the privilege of rating it at carshow. Nonetheless willtalk about one of the first things that seems to been atop the second ownerspriority list “to make sure it was beyond respectable”!
It is nearly impossible to not fall in love with thisMustangs exterior! The black enamel paint that the shop applied was laid downwith expertise! Being an accidentfree garage kept vehicle surely made the job little less intense (all bodypanels seem to be original to the car. It doesn’t take millisecond toappreciate the contour of each)!
The craftsman who was enlisted to handle to the bodywork wasemployed at Ron Willey Ford in Nevada Iowa. He himself had collection ofvintage Fords and was awarded several times over for turning out some of thebest muscle cars in the region! At any rate there are no major imperfections to be foundalong the circumference of the cars entire body.
All corresponding gaps, lines and tooling dimensions are inagreement with factory specifications. Many man hours were spent prepping the car to ensure correctcontinuity! Let me say at this point the finished product is simplybreath taking! The exterior is smooth to the touch and extremely shiny (frombumper to bumper)!
I myself had been fan of brightly colored cars for manyyears however this little Mustang quickly changed my mind! The aphotic based Raven Black enamel almost looks wet indirect sunlight (mirror finish)! It also really magnifies all of the chrome appointments wonderfully(especially at night)! During the restoration process each and every piece ofstainless trim chrome was either completely refurbished or replaced withN.O.S. sanctioned parts. This includes but is not limited to the; door handles,locks, rocker moldings, head light bucket trim, emblems, gas cap, grille,running horse, fender script, antenna, exterior markers, wheel lip moldings,and too much more to list! Another special conversation piece are the flame red rockerpanels racing stripes that grace the lower body line “wonderful contrast &the perfect touch”!
This Blue Oval still has the Ford racing staple iconic hoodscoop firmly attached to the body with menacing sport racing mirrors! There’s yet more good news “all of the supporting glass isintact and securely attached to the tracks! To anyone who is familiar with the69 convertible models enduring problems with the door glass “this is welcomednews”! The original front glass was clay bared (crystal clear) andprotected with Cobra clay mitt. New windshield weather strip has been added at both pillarpost to shield the interior from any moister. A new ebony black canvas convertible top rests along theroof line “that looks incredible”!
The upholstery shop appointed StayFast to supply the topwhich is formulated with higher grade material than most brands on themarket. There’s yet even better news…. The top is manual! That meansno leaking hydraulic lines, noisy pumps, expensive failing hydraulic cylinders,cracked hoses, etc! Just release the top handles and it lowers with ease! Although this pony car looks fantastic with the top up it iseven more impressive with the top down!
She looks great from every angle and has even garnered thepraise of Pinnacle Auto! Ready for any venue SHOW OR GO!

Upon opening the door of this vintage Ford you will quicklyappreciate its uniform clean interior! The onyx black upholstery throughout is in excellentcondition! The seat covers are like new…..flawless (front rear)! The completeinterior was restored at Old Town Upholstery in St. Louis Missouri.
The seat buns, seat cushions, seat covers almost everyother stitch of this cars interior was replaced in (2015). Extra cushioning has been added for better lumbar support.You will notice an immediate difference once you sit inside in comparison tomany of the other classic Mustangs on the road today! The dash pad, sill plates, quarter trim attachinghardware are in pristine condition (all gauges functioning)! A new N.O.S. console shifter plate and handle was properlyinstalled as well. The original Ford steering wheel is free from damage “nocracking”! Before the interior was positioned back inside there was brandnew full length carpet ordered from Missouri Mustang to be installed. Displaying pony pride is cinch “thanks in part to carpetedembossed floor mats”! Looking left to right you will find subtle pair of pitchblack door panels with new hardware. The upper door trim has been upgraded witha textured composite material “rarely seen”.
The interior lights are still shining bright the dashlights are actually functioning properly! All all the cockpit of this Mustang represents theexterior well. This car actually takes you back to 1969 each everytime you climb behind the wheel! There’s nice trunk mat with highly coveted double redline tire that is tucked away inside “great for the local car shows”! Nowthat have given several reasons why you should love this Ford…… will talkabout yet why few Chevy guys hate it!
NoMustang can truly be considered muscle car without having factory V/8! Theheart and soul of this horse is its STOUT factory 302 engine. Although theshort block is original to the car it has been transformed into what “MattJohnson’s Performance Shop” coined MIGHTYMOUSE!!! Tostart the block received set of performance pistons and Manley pro seriesconnecting rods! AdditionalEdelbrock stainless valve components back up the lower end! Anew Edelbrock carburetor and Performer II intake feeds the fuel (painted tomatch) COMPLETE SLEEPER! Theentire system breaths through long tube headers! Thepedestrian valve covers and factory air cleaner makes this Mustang look stock! Factorywatermark decals are there to impress the judges on cruise night! Trulymust hear drive to appreciate FORD!!! EXCELLENTHORSE POWER TORQUE RATIOS! THISPONY RUNS STRONG!!!! Preventativemaintenance has not been neglected either! new performance coil for betterspark was recently installed. Joiningthe fight to ensure that this little pony would have respectable street numbersare high output opti silicone spark racing plug wires and double gapped plugsand vacuum advance! Thisone leaks no fluids! Thanks in part to new waterpump, thermostat, gaskets,seals, fuel pump and oil sending unit! Charging is also optimal since the carhas had new alternator, OPTIMA battery, belts, starter and just too much moreinstalled too list!!!

Onetrip in this Mustang makes it nearly impossible to want to return home! Irecently drove the car approx. 60 miles without hic cup! found it hard topry myself out of the seat when it was time to go! Thereis also fairly new radiator installed to help keep things cool!
