1973 OLDSMOBILE DELTA 88 ROYALE CONVERTIBLE. found this olds in garage up the road from me in 2014, where it had sat undisturbed for 12 years. am the second owner of this oldsmobile. It was ordered from the factory with the 455 4bbl, and heavy duty towing package, and HD cooling. It had class 4 receiver built into the frame rail which I did remove, and trailer brake controller, which is still in the car just not connected. I spent summer rebuilding the rear quarters, originally beige, painted it yellow. installed new top. full length headers, full dual exhaust, new tires, brake master cylinder, proportioning valve, wheel cylinders, calipers, pads, rotors, brake shoes. as was working on it found the original 455 had been replaced with 403, bummer, oh well. drove the car for few weeks, and the oil light began flashing. drained the oil and found it full of metal. so it sat for year as is. Just finished swapping out the 403 for low mileaged 1973 455 out of toronado. it is 73 455 however it is non-egr motor. before install, main and rod bearings were checked, heads were removed and replaced with pair of rebuilt heads had, all new gaskets, seals, and water pump. also swapped in the hei distributor from the 403, and an edelbrock barrel carb. the new motor runs very nicely, has nice throaty tone, good oil pressure, and make no funny noises. this car runs and drives very well and if had to drive it across country tomorrow wouldn't hesitate.THE GOOD top work well, car drives nicely, new tires, brakes, exhaust, motor very sound. new radiator/hoses. frame and body very solid. coil over front shocks, rear air shocks, rides very wellTHE BAD paint and top were rush job. after spending the summer and fall working on the body, winter was coming and had to done quickly. the car was painted outside because my shop wasn't big enough to paint inside. it looks good from 10 feet away but does have good amount of orange peel as the temperature was too cool for the paint to level out. the top was essentially put on very quickly as well and should be adjusted or done over professionally. it does work as is, if it's warm and the sun is always shining it's nothing to worry about, but does leak while driving tin the rain. the rear quarters had be custom made and are not perfect, and yes there is body filler in there to help with the shape but all rotted metal was cut out and replaced with 18ga steel. there are some problem area with the trunk floor and there was some patchwork done to the floor under the rear seat. Yes, it is very yellow. it was originally beige/pearl but yellow was at the time my daughters favorite color so oldsmobile omega yellow it is. have gallon extra if winning bidder wants it. door jams have not been painted. This car gets lot of attention everywhere it goes, whether it's thumbs up people loving it or people scowling at it's total lack of respect for the environment we don't like them anyway) so grab your cigar and hawaiin shirt and bid away. think covered everything, feel free to ask any questions.
