This BMW R51 was manufactured on June 5, 1939 and delivered on March 26, 1940 to the BMW importer Nibbrig Greeve in 's-Gravenhage, Holland. What happened after that is anybody's guess. What we do know is; it was purchased from Holland with an R71 motor and made its way to the states. The bike was expertly restored by Todd Rasmussen, in Taos, NM as an R71 and purchased by me, at witch point decided to reacquaint it with its former (but not matching) R51 motor. The motor parts were sourced from around the world; Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, Uruguay, Solvang, CA, and restored in Corona, CA by Jeff Moore. The clean Arizona title in my name reads, 1939 R71 witch matches the head-stock tag. The frame number is recognized by the BMW archives in Munich, as an R51 and the motor block came from Spain.
