When is the last time you saw real, civilian 1942 Harley Knucklehead for sale that you can buy for less than $40,000? Especially one that is all together, well sorted and good runner?
Knuckleheads were offered by Harley from 1936 through 1947. The pre-war (1942 and earlier) are the most desirable and valuable. This is one.

The 1942 Knucklehead model FL is the high performance 74 cubic inch 48 horsepower machine that was advertised as weighing 535 pounds and capable of top speed of 105 mph.
Only 799 civilian model Harley Big Twins were built in 1942 due to the US entering the war. Wonder how many are still around and running and not in personal museums or private collections? That makes this very rare, low production machine.
These pre-war OHV Knuckleheads and seldom come up for sale. Here is one with great VIN stamps and pad, and matching belly numbers.
Pretty much all the 1942 Harley Big Twins (Knuckleheads and Flatheads) would have been built prior to the December bombing of Pearl Harbor, because after that most of Harley's activities were in support of the war effort.
A regular rider, this FL kickstarts easily, idles well, shifts and rides as it should. Decent brakes, good charging, nice handling, and no mechanical surprises.
Most of the bike is genuine Harley-Davidson parts, other than the aftermarket speedometer, floorboard inserts, 12-volt generator (for better lights and night riding) and muffler. Easy to switch back to 6-volts if desired.
Genuine Harley headlight, genuine Harley forks, frame, tins (repainted), tank badges, Linkert carb, engine and transmission. Looks to be real Harley air cleaner and saddle.
Check out those valuable and stunning chromed Hollywood bars that were so popular back in the day.
This bike was owned by an ex commercial pilot so he painted the bike red and white his company's colors.
It starts right up with little effort, idles and runs well through all the gears. Tracks smooth and straight down the road and is about as issue-free as you could expect from 77 year old motorcycle.
This was built by previous owners to be good looking, fun to ride machine, and feel they met their goals.
I have clear title in hand. The bike is on Long Island, NY but can be picked up at my offices in Connecticut.
A nice 1942 Harley FL sold at last June's Mecum Las Vegas auction for $77,000. There is reasonable reserve on this machine little over half that price.
If you are looking for fun 1942 civilian pre-war Harley Knuckle, step up for this one or wish you did.
I will make reasonable efforts to work with you or your shipper/trucker on this.
I am not interested in trades at this time. will answer questions as can. Thanks for looking and good luck. This sure is sweet old Knucklehead. And very rare year!
