1947 Harley Davidson Knuckelhead. This bike was customized in the 70’s by Pierce Harley Davidson. They had museum there and this was on display for number of years. The bike is featured in lot of Harley Davidson history books. It is well preserved representation of what was going on with motorcycles in the 70’s. The bike has also been featured in official Harley Davidson calendars. All the sheet metal is original, frame has knuckles, original air cleaner, original front end that was chromed. The chrome parts on this bike are original Harley parts that have been chromed with the exception of the chain guard. The motor is an FL, it has lot more compression than any other knucklehead that have ridden, the motor is also stronger than any other knuck that have ridden. The transmission is smooth shifting, clutch works great. upgraded the primary chain to belt. The horn doesn’t work, brake lens has crack in the glass. The paint has some scratches, the hand pinstripes are very unique identifier for all old pics. I believe Pierce passed in 2007, appearantly they sold some of his bikes and ended up buying this one from friend of friend. I am not sure how long it sat before purchased it. As soon as got it home changed the fluids, gassed her up and rode her. It has been fun to tinker and ride, Time for someone else’s turn.
