Vintage 1948 Harley Davidson UL Big Twin 74 Flathead Project Engine Motor RARE
Engine is in overall good condition for its age. I purchased this from the daughter of the previous owner.  He had it in raked Knucklehead frame chopper that he built in '76 believe.  Belly numbers are matching and VIN pad is untouched with perfect numbers (blurred last number in pictures).    There have been no repairs to the cases.  I was told the bottom end was rebuilt and has low miles.  It does feel tight, but should be inspected just in case and fresh gaskets installed.  Cylinders are in good shape with chipped fin.  They do measure at .100" over stock size, so they may need to be sleeved as that bore size is little big without having the extra fins an 80" has.  Heads are in good shape with no broken fins, just two that are drilled.  Looks like the had some debris in the combustion chambers.  3 of the lifter blocks are the newer style while is the older style, but all of the valve covers are the old screw on style.  It was run this way, evident in older pictures. believe have most of the head bolts, but not sure on the cylinder nuts. All in all this is great start to project, as this is the last year of the BT Flathead.  I will have clear, correct 1948 Harley Davidson AZ title in my name by the end of the auction.
