:“I've been restoring this 48 for the past 5 years. It's built for riding, not sitting, with the emphasis on mechanical dependability for long distance trips. The only drips come from the breather, the rest of the motor is dry, including the valve covers ! Everything is original to a 48 including the all the fasteners, which are either cp, Colony or Old Dude supplied. Original pieces currently on the bike are as follows: frame, motor, trans,wheels, headlight, horn, tool box, seat & post, dash, tail light, kick pedal, spring fork and shock, belly pan, trans mount, crash bars, rear stand, kick stand and mount, handle bars and twist grips, floor boards, pedals and rods, tanks and badges, shift lever and gate, levers, brake plates, front drum, oil bag, battery plate, bell crank, breaker assembly, relay. Original 48 only rear fender, inner and outer primary and wide brace front fender included, but need repairs. The motor is 2000 mile fresh with the best insides and machine work possible.”

 Hopefully the photos show how nice it is.  The frame is perfectly straight with any defects repaired, the motor mounts are perfect, however the left front motor mount has .013 shim for good safe fit.  The motor had lots of work:  the cases are correct 48, but different numbers and the mounts were fly cut to perfect,  new races and bearings installed and they were machined for 53 type hydraulic lifters.  Truett Osborn wheels, trued and balanced, all new bearings, Torrington needle bearing pinion bushing replacement done as well as cam cover pinion bushing replaced and reamed to spec.. The cases then sealed and closed.  pistons and rings fitted .030 over, cylinders were perfect, no fin repairs.  Heads completely re-worked with new threads cut for intakes, new rockers, fitted and polished, Kibble White valve train, triple ground pockets, seals, guides etc..  Laminated pan gasket tops off the heads for oil free seal.  Cam cover to case lapped to seal.  The cam is an AB grind Andrews designed for more duration on the exhaust, for cooler running motor and more mid range.  went with S&S pump for obvious reasons.  My original Jim's hydraulic lifters were recently changed back to solids,( Jim's don't work).  Lots of time and many dollars went into the motor and trans and would drive it cross country without hesitation, it starts easy every time, hot or cold. Cycle Electric 12 volt supplies the power and Andrews coil supplies the GM points for dependable service. All the variations to the bike can be returned to stock without modifications.   I've tried to cover the important stuff, but I'm sure there were things missed, so if you have any questions, please feel free.  The reason for selling is simply getting too old and stuff has to go.  The bike is also for sale locally and may be terminated if sale is made.
