1949 Harley Davidson FL This motorcycle was produced during the first year of Hydra Glide front forks. It features the "nipple" style fork caps and the rare omission of the Hydra Glide stamping from the front fork cover as in later models. The tins are original except for the front fender, which was subject to massive recall in 1949 due to four critical injuries caused by loose fenders and the frame is unmolested.  It even has the factory fork lock with keys.This motorcycle was built by man who intended to use it for cross country memorial run.  Everything was spec'd closely for long distance running, and it was fitted with 12V electrical system, electronic ignition, new continental tires, 11mm heavy duty belt drive primary, new drive chain, etc. The carb is an M74B which has been completely rebuilt, with all new internals. It features factory plunger "buddy" seat with working secondary support spring. The idea was to keep it as original as possible while increasing the reliability for cross country trek.
