purchased this bike from man that was BMW dealer years ago. It was genuine "barn find" in Arkansas which he acquired to restore. He became ill and never started the restoration. He had either saved (from when he was dealer), or collected many NOS parts that would be needed to restore this bike.I spent countless hours completely dismantling every nut/bolt/part. Not one piece was left untouched. Including the engine, transmissionand drive assembly.
"Top line" details:- A former BMW mechanic from the airhead days rebuilt/assembled the complete drive train, motor/transmission/shaft drive - Tank and fenders painted and hand striped to exact specs, clear coated for long lasting durability- assume it was originally set up for side car from the factory, it has the power supply plug for side car lights, frame connections, gear ratio, steel rear wheel - Carbs were rebuilt by Bing and are as new- Speedometer was rebuilt by Palo Alto, original miles were kept (33,436)- Brakes were rebuilt with new liners- All new bearings and seals throughout- Frame and misc. other parts powder coated, cleared for durability- Wheels were polished and stainless spokes used- Denfeld solo seat, will include the original bench seat- Metzeler period correct tires- Complete electrical system is original and works as it should (except wiring harness battery)- Complete exhaust is new reproduction from Benchmark
I start it about every 2-3 months and weather permitting take it for short ride. pushes of the carb primer and it starts first kick.
I entered it in the Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival Concours d'Elegance and won "Best In Class" for motorcycles 1954-1973
I have well over $20,000 invested over the original cost of the bike. This does not include countless hours of my labor and time locating NOS parts. The only non OEM/NOS parts used were the exhaust, wiring harness, battery, and SS spokesThe steering damper is not installed however do have the parts.
My reserve is fair and in line with other R69S bikes either recently sold or on the market today.I have listed and sold number of vintage motorcycles on eBay over the past few years. Including one to England and one to Australia.I am willing to store it for up to months, however it must be paid in full in days as outlined.Without exception the buyers are always more than pleased with their purchase from me. They usually say it was better than described and expected.I am brutally honest and detail oriented. want the transaction to be pleasant for both parties. Please contact me with any questions or if you would like any specific pictures or video of starting/running.
Thanks, Dennis 573-280-9259
